Publisher's Summary

He stared at the unfamiliar watch on his wrist. Three hours ago, he had stood on English soil. Three hours ago, he had been Martin Hearne, British Intelligence agent. Now he was in Nazi-occupied Brittany, posing as Bertrand Corlay, with the Frenchman’s life reduced to headings in his memory.

Hearne looked down at the faded uniform, which had once been Corlay’s, felt once more for the papers in the inside pocket. He was ready. From now on, he was one step away from death....

The Queen of Spy Writers returns in a stunning series collecting all of her greatest works! Titan kicks off with Assignment in Brittany, the gripping tale of an undercover operative deep in Nazi-occupied France.

Good

Chapter 28 has some remarks at 13:03 that are not part of the script . iffy Scotland impersonations at the beginning but a good listen none the less.

Entertaining

I enjoyed this book though it did take me some time to complete it.

good but dated

I could do without the romantic happy endings, but they go with the era and are preferable to gratuitous sex and violence in recent works. Interesting writing, well narrated.

Good, steady, engaging story

Enjoyed this book. Consistent level of tension for the drama, but nice moments and very likely characters.

Gripping Story

Another intensely interesting WW 2 assignment story by Helen MacInnes. Great narration and character voices by Ralph Lister.

Poorly narrated

I'm giving the author the benefit of the doubt here with 3 stars, because the dull narration and ridiculous accents were enough to stop me continuing beyond the first chapters.

So disappointing!

Story looked like it would shape up well but I could not stand the narration: terrible Scots accent, worse Yorkshire accent and totally unconvincing pretend French accent for the English spy. Returned,
