About this listen

From actor Cary Elwes, who played the iconic role of Westley in The Princess Bride, comes the New York Times bestselling account of the making of the cult classic film filled with never-before-told stories, exclusive photographs, and interviews with costars Robin Wright, Wallace Shawn, Billy Crystal, Christopher Guest, and Mandy Patinkin, as well as author and screenwriter William Goldman, producer Norman Lear, and director Rob Reiner.

The Princess Bride has been a family favorite for close to three decades. Ranked by the American Film Institute as one of the top 100 Greatest Love Stories and by the Writers Guild of America as one of the top 100 screenplays of all time, The Princess Bride will continue to resonate with audiences for years to come.

Cary Elwes was inspired to share his memories and give fans an unprecedented look into the creation of the film while participating in the twenty-fifth anniversary cast reunion. In As You Wish he has created an enchanting experience; in addition to never-before seen photos and interviews with his fellow cast mates, there are plenty of set secrets and backstage stories.

With a foreword by Rob Reiner and a limited edition original poster by acclaimed artist Shepard Fairey, As You Wish is a must-have for all fans of this beloved film.

This was a joy to listen to. It has enthused me to rewatch the movie and pick out some of the scenes that were talked about in the book.

Absolutely delightful!

This was a gentle and thoroughly heartwarming recount of the creation of the most wonderful film I've had the pleasure to see. It was a rare moment that wasn't spent grinning like a fool or getting misty thinking about the impact this movie had on my life. Absolutely worth it.

So THAT'S how you pronounce "Elwes"!

This book was fabulous. If you love The Princess Bride, as I do, it is wonderful to get behind the scenes. The audio book has a great advantage over the printed copy as so many of the cast and director personally narrate their sections.

Cary Elwes is fabulous to listen to, both for his dulcet tones and his obvious passion for the movie. It made me want to watch the movie yet again, with a whole new dimension.

Insert favourite line here - a fantastic read.

I really enjoyed this book being a fan of the movie. It was great to hear how It all came together and the funny background stories. There was one small issue I had which is only a nit pic really, it felt a bit disjointed having different cast members pop in all over the place. Giving them a dedicated chapter instead would have made a smoother listen.

Cute and enjoyable
