Story
Written by Naoki Higishida when he was only 13, this remarkable book explains the often baffling behaviour of autistic children and shows the way they think and feel - about the people around them, time and beauty, noise, and themselves. Naoki abundantly proves that autistic people do possess imagination, humour and empathy, but also makes clear, with great poignancy, how badly they need our compassion, patience and understanding.

Story
With his characteristic clarity and elegance A. C. Grayling takes the listener from the worldviews and moralities before the age of the Buddha, Confucius and Socrates, through Christianity's dominance of the European mind, to the Renaissance and Enlightenment, and on to Mill, Nietzsche, Sartre and philosophy today. And, since the story of philosophy is incomplete without mention of the great philosophical traditions of India, China and the Persian-Arabic world, he gives a comparative survey of them, too.

Story
"The Time Machine" is a science fiction novella by H. G. Wells, published in 1895 and written as a frame narrative. One of the most renowned works of science fiction, "The Time Machine" reflects on the adventures of The Time Traveller - a man who constructs a machine which allows him to explore what the future has to offer. As he travels to as far as 802,701 AD, The Time Traveller encounters a world dominated by two types of creatures - beautiful and fragile Eloi and repulsive and brutal Morlocks.
Publisher's Summary
Undoubtedly one of the most celebrated tales of all time, this is both high-octane thriller and fascinating travelogue. Phileas Fogg, intrepid Victorian gentleman about town, accepts a wager that he cannot travel around the world in 80 days. Naturally, he immediately sets off, accompanied by his French manservant, Passepartout. They are pursued by a police officer, Detective Fix, who is foolishly convinced that Fogg is a bank robber. Much hilarity ensues. On the way, Fogg bravely rescues Aouda, a beautiful Indian princess, from a ceremony of ritual sacrifice. Unexpectedly, our thriller becomes a love story.

Excellent reading, great story
Enjoyable classic, it might not have the same tension as modern thrillers but it is very cleverly constructed. Bill Homewood is one of my favourite narrators, he reads the books exceptionally well.

Absolutely Gripping
A fantastic story set in the Victorian world, with ups and downs and a fair bit of sly humour, all conveyed superbly by the narrator, who never fails to keep you deeply enthralled in the plot and the characters.
Pick this up, you won't regret it.

A classic adventure perfectly retold
I loved Verne when I was a boy but missed a few of his books like this one. When my son started to read it, I wanted to go along the story as well so we could talk about it. I tried this audiobook and was immediately taken away by the incredible performance of Bill Homewood. It’s a joy to listen to - highly recommended!
