Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Nalini Singh is back in the shadows of a deadly, beautiful world where angels rule, vampires serve, and one female hunter must crawl out of the darkness to survive....

The severed head marked by a distinctive tattoo on its cheek should have been a Guild case, but dark instincts honed over hundreds of years of life compel the vampire Dmitri to take control. There is something twisted about this death, something that whispers of centuries long past...but Dmitri's need to discover the truth is nothing to the vicious strength of his response to the hunter assigned to decipher the tattoo.

Savaged in a brutal attack that almost killed her, Honor is nowhere near ready to come face to face with the seductive vampire who is an archangel's right hand and who wears his cruelty as boldly as his lethal sensuality...the same vampire who has been her secret obsession since the day she was old enough to understand the inexplicable, violent emotions he aroused in her.

As desire turns into a dangerous compulsion that might destroy them both, it becomes clear the past will not stay buried. Something is hunting, and it will not stop until it brings a blood-soaked nightmare to life once more....

Read by Justine Eyre.

Incredible!

I love reading/listening to these books! Nalini Singh's writing is unlike anyone else and tells of incredible tales. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Honor and Dmitri's story. Dmitri always seemed so cruel but we learn of a new side to him in this book. And Honor has overcome so much after her capture and shockingly, it's Dmitri that helps her overcome the horror she experienced the most. I loved every word and can't wait to read more from this series!

Dmitri and Honor

When I first started reading this book I was a little disappointed and was very close to skipping it so that I would read it. You are probably wondering why, we’ll its all because it wasn’t about our favourite Arc Angel and Guild Hunter. But to be totally honest I’m glad that I did read it. Dmitri and Honor’s story had me on the edge of my seat. The connection between these two is something that you just don’t want to miss out on. You want to ride this roller coaster from the beginning to the very end.

more violent and sexist than others in series

still a good listen. some touching moments. But seems to be very ok with domestic violence, a bit disempowering to women in areas. Dimitri is a more violent character than the others but it doesn't excuse some of the destructive, indirect msgs.

Nothing happened!

I've liked this series so far, but,..... no 4 is a total waste of time and money.
How many ways can one problem be presented? This book is just awful. Justine Eyre is mournful and wining all thru. Quality so poor I had to raise the volume a lot which considering some of the scenes, was a worry for any flapping ears. After 1000 plus books, I vote this the worst.

Loved it!

I was wondering how she would keep me interested as the two main characters were starting to grate on me. But I loved this review into the other characters lives, it brings my old and black heart a little light. Only thing I’d add is despite being no prude but I tended to skip the sexy parts as it added nothing to the story for me. I’m pleased to say these did become less frequent in subsequent books. Love is expressed in magical ways more than just the physical

Really uncomfortable listen

Loved all the other guild hunter novels so far, but Dimitri was not my cup of tea and wasn't comfortable with the way he treated someone who was obviously traumatized. Couldn't finish, wouldn't recommend.

Amazing story

I really do love this story well written and audible has done well with it but I would for it to be narrated by both male and female

Beautiful story!

I’ve slowly become addicted to the Guild Hunter series, but this is for me, by far, the most compelling, beautiful love story. Definitely shadows Raphel and Elena’s 😂

Loved it

I have to admit that whilst I loved Honour from the beginning, Dmitri took a long time to grow on me. He was a jerk for the longest time. Hearing more about his back story softened me to him though and I ended up loving him. So much so I'm actually going to listen to it again before I listen to the next book.

The narrator, as usual, was flawless. I just love her tone and the way she narrates is perfect. Especially male voices. She's fantastic. I couldn't read it better myself.

Surprised

The end was a surprise to me I never saw it coming which happens with the best books and there is no better series then this one.
