unrealistic characters, plot that doesn't work

The characters are unlikeable and there is no real protagonist. The characters make decisions that do not make sense, and this is done purely to set up the plot. However, it's not realistic human behaviour or reactions to stress. There's no psychological reasoning here, just an attempt to divert the readers attention away from the obvious and to deliver a "twist" at the end. The twist comes at the expense of character development and a believable pilot. This compromise was not worth it, and made for a frustrating read.
