Absolutely Fabulous

So much I love about this book. As a gay 53 year old who grew up in country Queensland I can identify with the characters but also wished I could have experienced something like this. The depth of the characters and the thought and care in the writing that brings them to life, showing life in that messy, chaotic, beautiful story. Love the narration by Matthew. So great to see an Aussie LGBTQ story and can’t wait for the next book.

this book beautiful

I am completely obsessed with this book. As an ex ballerina i really connected with Lucas emotions of grief for dancing at the beginning and slow fulfilment of that loss. An incredible work of art i would recommend everyone to at least read once. <3
also, i’m very happy to read an aussie lgbt+ book!!!

Awesome Storytelling

A compelling story of love and challenges. Loved the ending. A truly great representation of growing up gay in country Aus.

It was ok

It was interesting, i liked the characters, loved that there was minimal drama and liked the narrator however I am unsure about the stereotypical voice used for Luca.
Loved that there was character development for Luca (I didn't see what he did wrong though). I was unhappy about how he was portrayed, instead I saw a 16yr old who was having to deal with some crisis but not being understood or supported by people around him. Everybody (dad and friends) around him in my opinion were too wrapped up in how they felt he needed to deal with his crisis. His dad expected him to act like an adult...
Anyway overall it was an OK book and I enjoyed it. .
