no where near as good

well that was a dissapointment after the awesomeness of the first book. too much of Jake wanting to jump Rose...Rose wanting Jake but not really...and that airplane scene really killed it. Not sure i will even bother with the next one when its released on Audible.

Still loving this series

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This was a great follow up to the first book. The byplay between Jake and Rose continues in this book and the action is fast-paced and fun. The narration is also still great. All in all, this is a fantastic action/adventure series well worth your time and credits.

A great sequel

Our team of accidental detectives teams up again to save someone... and so traipses about the world examining - and borrowing- historical items. Again, a stand-alone novel with few references ahead or behind, a great plot with some big twists, and lots of action. I received this audiobook for free in exchange for a review

Loved the first book this one failed

The first book “Blood Codex” was a book that kept me thinking and listening. Full of action and the narrator was great but with the “Anubis Key” I feel like the author just threw together some random thoughts and figured this book would sell based on the first book in the series. Complete let down. Horrible narration boring boring and exhaustingly boring. Better luck next time Alan Baxter and David Wood but I highly doubt I will read another book by these authors.

female character a blundering idiot

sometimes writers should just leave a character behind. Rose, the female character, should have stayed behind in book 1, or killed off very early in this book. She is an unkind, selfish, egocentric "feminist" who thinks she can do everything her male counterpart can do, but expects him to rescue her every time she acts like a blundering idiot. I honestly can't stand this character. If she doesn't die soon, I will not be able to finish this book.

Great story, which keeps you listening

A great follow up to Blood Codex, again following the adventures of Crowley and Black. This time they get involved in an ancient Egyptian cult. The story is fast moving and gripping and keeps you involved right up to the end. I do however wonder why an English narrator wasn't used for the book. Waters makes a good attempt at an English accent, but the voices are a bit stilted and odd to an English ear, plus a lot of American pronunciations for some words, which jump out to an English listener.

Anubis Key

Anubis Key by Alan Baxter and David Wood pulled me in immediately. I have always been drawn to stories with Egyptian mummies and pyramids. This book appealed to my imagination and sense for adventure. The story was fast paced and the descriptions painted vibrant images in my mind. Jonathan Waters was great bringing the characters to life. I really enjoyed this listen and will listen to more by this author and narrator.
