Story
Years ago, the day before Ellie moved from Georgia to California, she and her best friend, Nolan, sat beneath the Spanish moss of an ancient oak tree where they wrote letters to each other, and sealed them in a rusty old metal box. The plan was to return 11 years later and read them. But now, as that date arrives, much has changed. Ellie, bereft of the faith she grew up with, is a single mom living in a tired apartment trying to make ends meet. Sometimes she watches television to catch a glimpse of her old friend - Nolan, now an NBA star, whose terrible personal tragedies fueled his faith and athletic drive in equal measure.

Publisher's Summary
From number-one New York Times best-selling author Karen Kingsbury comes the first in a brand-new series about second chances - a dramatic story about a washed-up baseball player, the love he left behind, and the miracles that might save them both.
When former national baseball star Tyler Ames suffers a career-ending injury, all he can think about is putting his life back together the way it was before. He has lost everyone he loves on his way to the big leagues. Then just when things seem to be turning around, Tyler hits rock bottom. Across the country, Tyler’s one true love Sami Dawson has moved on.
A series of small miracles leads Tyler to a maintenance job at a retirement home and a friendship with Virginia Hutcheson, an old woman with Alzheimer’s who strangely might have the answers he so desperately seeks.
A Team of Angels Walking take on the mission to restore hope for Tyler, Sami, and Virginia. Can such small and seemingly insignificant actions of the unseen bring healing and redemption? And can the words of a stranger rekindle lost love? Every journey begins with a step.
It is time for the mission to begin…

God is Amazing
This book is a great read. It hooks you in and you can't stop. The author is a great writer and I loved the use of a male and female voice narrator. It made me think about God and how wonderful he is always fighting for us.

a great find
I have to confess the main reason that I chose this book was the baseball story as I love the game and watch it all the time, so when I was looking for a new story and this one came up I decided to read it. I was not at all bothered by the christian influence in fact it made the book appealing in a lot of ways. I was won over by the characters and the story and I am looking forward to the next book in the series very much.
If you are not bothered by the christian influence behind the story (and it is quite strong) then you would enjoy the story I certainly did.

I loved the book
I loved the book. I have had an experience one time on my life that I was sure it was the ministry of an angel. It happened at a time in my life when my husband and I needed God's intervention very much. I thank God for that experience.

Another great story from Karen Kingsbury
The story, the characters, the surprises, loved it all.
The female reader's "male voice" was a little weird, but other than that well done by both readers.
I can't wait to hear the next book in the series.
