One of the casualties is Kiahna Siefert, a flight attendant Connor knew well. Too well. Kiahna’s will is very clear: Before her seven-year-old son, Max, can be turned over to the state, he must spend the summer with the father he’s never met, the father who doesn’t know he exists - Connor Evans. Story
Years ago, the day before Ellie moved from Georgia to California, she and her best friend, Nolan, sat beneath the Spanish moss of an ancient oak tree where they wrote letters to each other, and sealed them in a rusty old metal box. The plan was to return 11 years later and read them. But now, as that date arrives, much has changed. Ellie, bereft of the faith she grew up with, is a single mom living in a tired apartment trying to make ends meet. Sometimes she watches television to catch a glimpse of her old friend - Nolan, now an NBA star, whose terrible personal tragedies fueled his faith and athletic drive in equal measure.

Publisher's Summary
From number-one New York Times best-selling author Karen Kingsbury comes the second novel in a brand-new series about divine intervention and second chances - the dramatic story of a woman desperate to find deeper meaning in her life.
Mary Catherine grew up in a comfortable life despite an array of health issues, including a congenital heart condition (which she quietly obsesses over). She loves her parents, who are quite wealthy, but the lifestyle never appealed to her. Instead she pursues meaning through an abundance of charity work, always giving away a part of herself in service of others.
After her project with a local youth center comes to an end, Mary Catherine decides to travel to Uganda on a mission to meet the two children she sponsors - and to find out if her donations are actually helping.
Accompanied by Tyler, Sami, and Marcus Dillinger, Mary Catherine arrives in Africa only to find a makeshift orphanage with 17 children and no one to care for them.
They return home with heavy hearts, and Mary Catherine knows there is more work to be done. Intent on returning to Africa, Mary Catherine quits her job and leaves a budding romance behind to fulfill her desire to help others.
Inspirational and moving, Chasing Sunsets is the story of one woman's deep longings of the soul and the sacrifices she's willing to make in search of healing.

Chasing Sunsets Review
What a wonderful book! I already have a strong faith but it's made me think more about angels, and their presence on earth. Also to watch & be more aware of people - especially strangers, & hope that one day I will also have an encounter with one! Thank you Penny

Good reminder
Truly enjoyed the book. I'm a guy reader so every time I told someone I was reading this book they would say "sounds like a chic book". lol! It's easy to get attached to plot and most of all reminded me even after 13 yrs of marriage I still need to chase and love my wife with all my being. And... There is so much power in the name of Jesus!

Storyline good, but not enough substance
This book did not read as a complete story. It is a series, but too many loose ends. Storyline for certain characters was too developed to be left dangling for next book. This made the book seem hollow and unfulfilling.

I felt challenged.
So often I find myself saying tomorrow... next week, when I am prepared and the list goes on. This book truly challenged me to be present in my life and other people’s. I wonder how many opportunities I have missed, how many blessings have I not claimed? Have I ever been touched by an angel? From this moment I choose to be present in my life, claim the promises and rejoice in God’s plan for me, for my family. If the need arises I pray that angels will walk beside me to encourage me and strengthen my faith. What a precious book.
