I had almost forgotten the hilarity that ensues when Roberta Steel is around! In this case she’s bringing her particular brand of chaos to death at a posh Scottish wedding. Her narrative reveals a complete lack of self awareness which is as funny and wrong as it is endearing. Obviously we still need more Logan McRae, but his fellow officers are quite magnificent!!

I really wanted to like this book; I wanted it to be classic Steele. Instead, it’s a slow and cumbersome story. The narrator’s voice didn’t work for me. Steele didn’t sound like Steele. Hugely disappointed.
