About this listen

Lady Georgina Hawthorne has worked tirelessly to seal her place as the Incomparable for her debut season. At her first London ball, she hopes to snag the attention of an earl.

With money and business connections, but without impeccable bloodlines, Colin McCrae is invited everywhere but accepted nowhere. When he first encounters the fashionable Lady Georgina, he's irritated by his attraction to a woman who concerns herself only with status and appearance.

What Colin doesn't know is that Georgina's desperate social aspirations are driven by the shameful secret she harbors. Association with Colin McCrae is not part of Georgina's plan, but as their paths continue to cross, they both must decide if the realization of their dreams is worth the sacrifices they must make.

The story is ok. It is strung out further than needs to be. The narration is very hard to listen to, robotic, woeful attempts at accents, cadence all wrong. Lots of religious references.

Long

I've listened to 2 books from the series so far. both had a good storyline. however the narration...... I can't decide what's worse, the natural sounding narration but terrible British accent in the first or the robotic narration but good British accent in the second. also, with the regular mention of God and the bible I believe Christian Literature should be added to the genre.

good story, bad narration

I listened to this at x1.05 or x1.10 and enjoyed her performance.
Georgina is singularly focused on swiftly securing a powerful match during her debut season. She's rather awful, though likely atypical of other marriage-minded ladies and their mamas. I adored Colin's persona in stark contrast to Georgina's and appreciated the author's pairing of this unlikely love-match.

I couldn't fault the narration

The narrator could have been better. She often sounded like a robot and did not put a lot of inflection into the voices.
And the narrators blatant pushing of her religious agenda is very annoying. As a non believer it really grates on me but I just have to let it wash over me and focus on the story.

Good story however…

A nice sweet story ruined by very stilted narration. Quite a shame because otherwise it was a good book!

Terrible narration

After enjoying the first book, I looked forward to Georgina and Colin’s story. However, I could not get past chapter 2. The narrator was just too difficult to listen to.

Really wanted to listen to this one, however
