Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable, audiobook edition of Among Thieves by John Clarkson, read by John Chancer.

Like Ocean's Eleven meets Mystic River, Among Thieves is a high-octane thriller from a writer at the top of his game.

'Hardboiled urban noir from the pen of a master' Lee Child

*****

Unfairly imprisoned by the State of New York, ex-con James Beck is a man with a keen sense of right and wrong. But when a friend's niece turns to him for help, he soon discovers that the men at whose hands she's suffered are more dangerous than he could possibly have imagined.

In order to prevail, he and his gang of friends will have to outwit, out-flank and out-fight a formidable array of opponents the like of which they've never before encountered. Or die trying . . .

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was ok, I found some of the objectivity toward the female characters really annoying. In the first few chapters we meet 4 male characters that’s are barely physically described but the female charters is explained in detail as some sort of amazing pin up girl...!

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Quite good, story line would be great without some of the ridiculous female descriptions.

Could you see Among Thieves being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?

No

Any additional comments?

I would not be keen to purchase other books by this author....a bit annoying that he ruins a quite good storyline with his over the top expectations of women’s physical appearance. A story more directed towards a male reader I think!

Not a big fan.
