About this listen

Four hundred years from now mankind is strung out across a region of interstellar space inherited from an ancient civilization discovered on Mars. The colonies are linked together by the occasional sublight colony ship voyages and hyperspatial data-casting. Human consciousness is digitally freighted between the stars and downloaded into bodies as a matter of course.

But some things never change. So when ex-envoy, now-convict Takeshi Kovacs has his consciousness and skills downloaded into the body of a nicotine-addicted ex-thug and presented with a catch-22 offer, he really shouldn't be surprised. Contracted by a billionaire to discover who murdered his last body, Kovacs is drawn into a terrifying conspiracy that stretches across known space and to the very top of society. Read by Todd McLaren.

Amazing story and character's and really cool concept for a science fiction novel can't recommend it anymore.

Just an amazing book.

as per the title, story is very intricate and complex - at times it can be difficult to follow or remember the threads but it all comes together in the end. the narrator is good as well, though admittedly there's some spots where there's a huge pause between sentences. recommended especially if you enjoyed the tv show.

great narration and great cyberpunk noir tale

The story is perfect. You just keep coming back for more. I found some of the character voices distracting, mainly the female characters. They just weren't on point.

Worth finishing before the TV series

Todd McLaren reads with amazing voice acting. TV show differs from the books, but all the main points are the same.

I hadn't heard of this series until binge watching the Netflix show but I love science fiction which makes you think. The book is quite different from the TV show but I enjoyed the differences. New twists and characters made it unique. Looking forward to the next one.
