Publisher's Summary

From the author of New York Times bestseller, A Flicker in the Dark, comes a gripping and atmospheric thriller about one woman’s search for the truth

Today is day 364.

364 days since my last night of sleep.

364 days since my son, Mason, was taken from his bed.

The police have stopped looking. My husband wants me to move on.

But I need to keep his story alive.

Someone knows what happened to my son.

And I’m going to find them.

It’s been a year since Isabelle Drake’s son, Mason, disappeared from his bedroom. Since then, she hasn’t had a full night of sleep. Everyone else has moved on – the detectives, the press, her husband – but she can’t rest until she knows the truth.

Teaming up with true crime podcaster Waylon Spencer, Isabelle investigates her son’s case. But Waylon has motives of his own and as long-forgotten memories of Isabelle’s past resurface, doubt begins to cloud her sleepless nights.

What happened to Mason Drake?

What if the past is better left buried?

Critic Reviews

"Pacey and sinister, All the Dangerous Things has a palpable tension that keeps the pages turning." (Karin Slaughter, Sunday Times and internationally bestselling author)

"A sensational thriller set in the deep south. Dark, engrossing and atmospheric. Loved the podcast angle. Relatable, layered characters and sublime tension. Excellent." (Will Dean, author of The Last Thing to Burn)

"Brilliant! With a sure hand, the author draws us inexorably into a harrowing blend of gothic storytelling and psychological suspense, dishing up new shocks every time another layer is peeled back. I was as sleepless as our protagonist—since I had to finish this marvelous thriller in one sitting!" (Jeffery Deaver, author of Hunting Time)

Slow-burn Mystery Written Beautifully

An intriguing slow-burn mystery delivered through beautiful writing. I thought the unreliability, yet convincing nature of the protagonist was excellently written, despite not liking the character very much. Waylon was probably the only character I was drawn too, and his part in the story created some of the most gripping chapters.

While this book was not overly suprising, it was a fun read, and easy to become enthralled with both storylines and the paralels of the mystery!

No bad

Decent psychological manipulation, a little predictable but a nice third wall at the end.
Might have enjoyed it more if I read it purely because I cannot stand this narrator.

Underwhelming

Story is very slow and tests our patience to get to the point. Unnecessarily descriptive where not needed. Not sure if its the author or the narrator, but scenes cut from one to another in a single breath of a sentence and gets very annoying for your imagination trying to create a story in your mind. Narration skills are sub par with most non lead characters sounding pretty much the same. Very predictable at the end.

Solid thriller

Took a while to get going, but once it does some great twists and turns and chilling tension.

Clever and Gripping

Absolutely fabulous listen. Didn’t want it to end. All the hallmarks of a brilliant psychological thriller that kept me guessing until the very end. A rather unique storyline which kept me enthralled all the way through.

Only got good towards the end

I may have enjoyed this book a lot more had I read it rather than listened.

Great story

I enjoyed this book. I liked how it had a few possible options of ‘who did it’ and you can’t predict the final outcome.
