I’m a sucker for all things Italian so I was always going to enjoy this short Roman second-chances romance! British model Sam is working in Rome when he falls for Lauro, a pizzeria waiter. After a year of passionate love and refusing to let Sam meet his family, Lauro drops a bombshell that sends Sam packing. It’s a few years later and Sam’s modelling career has tanked and he’s back in Rome as a high-end escort when he bumps into Lauro again. This packed a lot of plot in a short story and I loved the high drama of it all - it was just begging to be a longer novel. I would have liked a slightly less open-ended ending, but it left me feeling good! The audiobook narration by Tim Gilbert is such a treat and he did a great job of the Italian sprinkled through the text!
