Story
Lucy Bowman would never have guessed that her best friend, Duffy McCready (of McCready’s Bait Shop & Funeral Home) has been in love with her since they were kids. Fear of rejection and his own romantic complications prevented Duffy from confessing his true feelings in high school, so he stood by and watched her wed Wayne Garten right after high school. Wayne had always been a cheapskate, so it comes as no surprise when he suffers a fatal accident while fixing his own truck.

"Fun, entertaining and worth a credit"
- By Shay on 08-12-2014
Publisher's Summary
An Atlanta ex-cop comes to sleepy Lake Sackett, Georgia, seeking peace and quiet - but he hasn’t bargained on falling for Frankie, the cutest coroner he’s ever met.
Frankie McCready talks to dead people. Not like a ghost whisperer or anything - but it seems rude to embalm them and not at least say hello.
Fortunately, at the McCready Family Funeral Home & Bait Shop, Frankie’s eccentricities fit right in. Lake Sackett’s embalmer and county coroner, Frankie’s goth styling and passion for nerd culture mean she’s not your typical Southern girl, but the McCreadys are hardly your typical Southern family. Led by Great-Aunt Tootie, the gambling, boozing, dog-collecting matriarch of the family, everyone looks out for one another - which usually means getting up in everyone else’s business.
Maybe that’s why Frankie is so fascinated by new sheriff Eric Linden...a recent transplant from Atlanta, he sees a homicide in every hunting accident or boat crash, which seems a little paranoid for this sleepy tourist town. What’s he so worried about? And what kind of cop can get a job with the Atlanta PD but can’t stand to look at a dead body?
Frankie has other questions that need answering first - namely, who’s behind the recent break-in attempts at the funeral home, and how can she stop them? This one really does seem like a job for the sheriff - and as Frankie and Eric do their best Scooby-Doo impressions to catch their man, they get closer to spilling some secrets they thought were buried forever.

I love Molly Harpers books! Love love love ( well except for better homes and haunting?!?!)
I still loved this book but I didn’t find it as funny as I’ve come to expect. I’m really enjoying getting to know this big extended family. I’ve just finished it and will definitely be giving it another listen in a few days time.

finishes "Peachy Flippin' Keen"
Southern Eclectic is set in a spunky, stereo typed, deep southern town. Funny and so realistic is so many ways. I love the setting, the character, and the spunk. I don't like that it took 2 books to tell one story. The last book was 2 hours long and this one is 6 hour 51 minutes. (7+2= 9) I would have preferred one 9 hour book. Some MH "Half Moon Hollow series are that long.
I am not a novella or short story lover. I usually will not purchase an Audible under 5 hours long. I do make exceptions for my favorite Authors, like I did for Molly Harper's last book. But, if I had not read the short story (Peachy Flippin) I would not be completely satisfied with "Ain't She a Peach". And the 2 books make this one story more expensive. I have a budget for book buying and I really didn't like overspending on this one story in the series. My opinion----Just Sayin.......
Molly Harper is one of my favorite writers. All her stories make me laugh with her snarky humor. Talented lady. And when MH and Amanda Ronconi team up well that is a must buy for me.

Hard Peach Spit to Swallow
As always, loved the snarktastic duo of Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi. Really cute story, although I did like "Sweet Tea & Sympathy" better. It was more developed, less circling around the character flaws and Frankie bounced between immature and sage a time or two too often. However, I really did enjoy the story. On the production front, far too much time spent re-telling parts of the story from "Sweet Tea" and "Peachy Flippin' Keen," so that 6 hrs 51 min felt like far less. Also, the Peachy duo really FELT like an attempt to make more money from the books - especially if you're paying in credits. They absolutely were one story split in two.

Good finish
This is the second half of the story, and even though it’s not her best work, it’s a good ending. Narration is perfect, snark levels are as expected (and very good), and so many one-liners I want to borrow!! Lots of laugh out loud moments and even some zombies.
It’s not a cliff hanger, but there’s room for more in the series. I’d give it 5 stars but I’m still mad she essentially broke a “one-book” story into 2 books. I will get over that and enjoy listening to it a few more times.

4 ½ stars for the series.
A nice escape - being in a small town for a while.
This review is for all four books.
I’ve read two Molly Harper books in the past and was not wowed enough to buy more. They were both told in 1st person. But when I saw this new series being told in 3rd person I thought I’d try it. And yes, I really enjoyed it. Why is it that I feel like I can relax and enjoy a 3rd person book, but 1st person seems stressful?
The setting is a small lakeside town in Georgia. There is a romantic relationship in each book, but there is more of an emphasis on the town and things happening to various characters than on romance. I liked the way this was done.
You can read each book as a stand-alone except for Book 1.5. That book is the beginning of Book 2. You will be unhappy if you read 1.5 without continuing on to 2. But you can read Book 2 without 1.5.
In the first three books there were no sex scene details, but maybe a few references to “staying the night.” The fourth book had two sex scenes, briefly described, no body parts named.
Book #0.5 Save a Truck, Ride a Redneck - 3 stars
novella, 136 pages
Carl the auto mechanic and Marianne who recently graduated college with plans to go to law school. Nice story but I wanted more relationship development.
Book #1 Sweet Tea and Sympathy - 4 ½ stars
307 pages
Margot lost her job as an event planner in Chicago. She comes to Lake Sackett for a while at the request of relatives. She meets her biological father Stan and Kyle the elementary school principal.
Book #1.5 Peachy Flippin’ Keen - 3 stars
novella 75 pages
Frankie the female coroner and funeral home director meets Eric the new sheriff, formerly a cop in Atlanta. Someone has been playing mean pranks and vandalizing the family business - funeral home and bait shop. When I read this I was angry at the way the story stopped. But I soon learned this is the first chapter for the next book #2. So plan to read them together.
Book #2 Ain’t She a Peach - 4 ½ stars
304 pages
Continuation of the story about Frankie, Eric, and the vandalizing of the funeral home - and other things going on in town.
AUDIOBOOK NARRATOR:
Amanda Ronconi narrated all four of these, and she did a fine job. I think she changed the way she does voices, since she was not good in a couple other books that I listened to.
DATA:
Narrative mode: 3rd person. Swearing language: mild and rarely used. I think the f word was used once. Sexual content: mild. Setting: current day Lake Sackett, Georgia. Copyright: 2017 and 2018. Genre: womens fiction with romance.

Not very good
This saddens me to say this because Molly Harper is my absolute favorite author of all time, but the book (and this series) are just not good. Very boring. Story line is dull. Won’t finish the series. I hope the next is better. As usual, author is great. Also didn’t appreciate the intro book and extra cost.

A Miss
I like Molly Harper books. I enjoy the way Amanda Ronconi narrates those books. So this book should follow that pattern, right? Imagine my dismay as I struggled to feel any interest in this book. The main characters didn't really spark much of a reaction, well, any positive reaction. I wanted to bang their heads together and say grow up, act your age, and use some common sense...the immaturity was so annoying. The further I listened, the less I was interested in continuing. I finally quit about halfway through. While I enjoy the other Molly Harper books I've read/listened to, this was clearly the exception.

Such sweet love story
It's very sweet and entertaining. The narrator makes it feel as if you were there and makes all the different voices. I listed to the other books from the Southern Eclectic Novel series and they are all just such sweet love stories, this one is the continuation of the 3rd one, no spoiler, its the love story of Frankie and the Sheriff.
I only wish it would've be a longer book, I didn't want it to be over.
**Edit**
This is the second time I've listen to this book. It's sweet and entertaining. The narrator makes it feel as if you were there.
I really enjoyed it, with its southern accents and the light but very sweet love story.
