  • Summary

  • Growing older can be daunting. And for many women in particular, it can be downright terrifying.

Melissa Doyle (Sunrise, Sunday Night) recently turned 50 and found herself wanting some guidance on how to approach life’s second act. So she connects with women from different cultures to learn about how growing older can mean forging deeper connections (New Zealand), getting more power (Ghana), more opportunities (Finland) and sometimes more plastic surgery (South Korea). They discuss everything from menopause to sex, political representation to financial security. They find out how to Age Against the Machine.

My ageing roadmap is now looking good!

It's up to us, the individual, as to how we chart our future roadmap. I am so grateful for Mel and Naima's podcast where they set about to put a voice, ask probing questions and dig deeper into what it means to age as a woman in our modern day society. Yes I'm personally responsible, but it sure makes it easier to charge ahead defining how I want my ageing future to look and feel when I know I'm in good company with these two...and the many incredible women and men they interview throughout this podcast. The topics discussed are necessary and need to be spoken about more, especially with our men folk. The collective change for a better more understanding valued future needs to involve us all. I truly value the elders in my life and languish through the history of my year lived so far...I'm viewing my 50's and beyond through resilient, super tuff glasses, but charging ahead nonetheless that little bit more fortified by this podcast. Thanks.

Interesting and informative...

I've always admired Melissa Doyle, and was sad for her when she left Sunrise...she seems so down to earth and friendly, unlike a lot of the fake personas we see in the media...thanks for this series, will do my best to take the advice on board 🥰

Insightful, Thoughtful, and Tender

Makes me look forward to growing a little older, and inspires me to see those older women around me. A look into how society hinders a woman's freedom to grow old without disappearing.
