Publisher's Summary

My high school bully is now my fake boyfriend.

Glenna: Cash Wall has been messing with me since junior high. Nuisance stuff, mostly. Name calling. Pranks. Honestly, he’s nowhere near the worst of my problems. Back in school, I had bigger fish to fry, and now, I’ve got a “scarlet letter” situation going on. The whole town hates me. For some reason, Cash offers himself up as my knight in shining armor. So now, my former tormentor is my fake boyfriend. What could possibly go wrong?

Cash: Glenna Dobbs thinks I’m an idiot, and she’s mostly right. I hunt. Fish. I go mudding. I’m not a “brain” type. I’m not really a “thinker”. But I ain’t stupid. When I see that Glenna needs a rescue, I’m in. Because Glenna doesn’t know that I’ve been in this whole time, and once I’ve got her, I’m not letting go.

Against a Wall is a small-town enemies-to-lovers romance. It is the second book in the Stonecut County series, but it can be listened to as a stand-alone. Intended for adult listeners.

Amazing. Did not disappoint.

Listen, this is absolutely my favourite comfort read and I have been waiting for this audiobook since first reading the book. I work remotely and when this book dropped I had to stand on the roof of my car with my phone thrust beseechingly into the air for an arm aching amount of time waiting for the one bar reception fairies to do their download dance. Cate C Wells does it for me. She is my warm cup of cocoa on a cold winter's night sprinkled with marshmallows of all my favourite tropes. Her books hit me in the feels every time. I laugh, I cry, I despair that the heroes will never get their acts together while knowing that Cate will not let me down. The road will be rocky but it will lead to happiness.
Cash and Glenna are two big beautiful dumb humans that will forever hold a place within my heart. They deserve each other absolutely. Their stories are complex and painful and hurt my heart and I wanted to shake them both so hard and hug them even harder. Their sexy times are hot hot HOT. And excuseeee meeee but Cash turning his cap backwards had me squealing with delight. I love me a man down to work.
Extra gold star for dog lovers such as myself. Much treats to Granger, Red Tail and Fancy.
Kudos to the narrators, Scarlett was brilliant and Christopher, oh my lawd did that man nail Cash's voice. There was one moment where he literally growled 'wall' and I stopped everything I was doing to replay it again and again. I still think about it.
So much passion and humour. This book simply makes me happy. Thank you so much Cate C Wells, your books make this world a better place.
Toby can burn in hell for all eternity tho.
