Publisher's Summary

Book four of the After series - now newly revised and expanded. Anna Todd's After fanfiction racked up one billion reads online and captivated readers across the globe. Experience the Internet's most talked-about book for yourself!

Tessa and Hardin have defied all the odds, but will their fairy-tale ending be turned on its head? After Ever Happy... Life will never be the same.

It's never been all rainbows and sunshine for Tessa and Hardin, but each new challenge they've faced has only made their passionate bond stronger and stronger. But when a revelation about the past shakes Hardin's impenetrable façade to the core - and then Tessa suffers a tragedy - will they stick together again or be torn apart?

As the shocking truth about each of their families emerges, it's clear the two lovers are not so different from each other. Tessa is no longer the sweet, simple, good girl she was when she met Hardin - any more than he is the cruel, moody boy for whom she fell so hard. Tessa understands all the troubling emotions brewing beneath Hardin's exterior, and she knows she’s the only one who can calm him when he erupts. He needs her.

But the more layers of his past come to light, the darker he grows, and the harder he pushes Tessa - and everyone else in his life - away. Tessa's not sure if she really can save him - not without sacrificing herself. She refuses to go down without a fight. But who is she fighting for - Hardin or herself?

A bit like tripe...

... some will love it, but it's a bit hard to swallow.
Ugh. So glad it's over. I've had a love-hate relationship with these books and the only reason I forced myself through them all is because I started book 1, and I ain't no quitter!
The first half is more of Hardin's tiresome self-loathing and Tessa's irritating half-wittery. The 2nd half feels like the author just realised she only had a four-book deal and was running out of word count. I mean, how do you drag out 1 year of story over 3 and 3/4 books and then go and jam over 20 years of time warping into the last 10 chapters of the 4th book? (smh).
Read it if you must, but wait til it's discounted, or free.

ending is rushed.

I am a little upset with the last hour of the book. I disliked that the first 3 books are all in the first year of their relationship and then the last hour of the 4th is so quickly rushed to years, mo the, more years and more years passed.

Non-remarkable

predictable and idealistic. However addictive in a guilty pleasure sort of way.

I feel the ending was a bit rushed, and the timeline jumps around a bit...

however if you've read the whole series, you may as well read this book

WOW

Loved it couldn't stop listening lots of question and I feel the ending was a little rushed but just like the other books your left with a cliff hanger last sentence. Finished the last book called before and it ties up loose ends this book gave us. Emotional heartbreaking and another betrayal will hessa survive. Is tess saving herself or hardin...

Stretched out middle. Epilogue better than the last three books.

I was hoping the turmoil would be over by the time I got to the fourth book but no. If only the last few chapters and the epilogue were the book and not a fast track to Ever happy.

My heart!

This book had me sobbing, gave me everything I wanted from the ending, even though I wasn't 100% sure it would end that way. I loved the series and I think it's awesome to shed light on a turbulent relationship still with the notion that love conquers all.

Best book so far

Would you listen to After Ever Happy again? Why?

Yes because it was a good book. I listened to After three times. Yes I would listen to all four books in the After series again.

What did you like best about this story?

There were many moments in this book. One thing I can say is this book pulled out all of my emotions. I cried so much, I laughed I got turned on and I got angry you name the emotion and I felt it.

What does Shane East and Elizabeth Louise bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved the way Shane East talk both narrators did a wonderful job. If I had read the book I would not have been able to do the British accent even in my head.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes as I said above I did both I cried and I laughed. Hardin said some of the funniest things, but Tessa made me laugh as well.

Any additional comments?

This is the second time I've given a review on the books that I listened to. The other time was on After 1,2 and 3. I talked about how much I enjoyed listening to those books and this fourth book did not disappoint. I know I will remember this series for a long time to come and will always be looking for something that could top it.

Now I'M Happy Ever After

This series has been a struggle for me...the idea/concept is a wicked and interesting study of damaged people and the cruelties they can effect on others. The story of Hardin and Tessa is FINALLY over with this book and I am so relieved. Actually, this and the first book were pretty decent...the second and third were mostly an exercise in frustration at just how much this story could be drug out with the characters repeated the same mistakes and discussions ad nauseum. I got so frustrated with the characters ALMOST getting a grip on themselves only to make really stupid decisions over and over and over. There is merit in some of Ms Todd's writing and it appears that she has grown some in this last book. Some of her phrasing and situations were genuinely funny and her attention to the struggles of addiction and recovery is admirable. The narrators took some getting used to but things did improve with the addition of Shane East. The only issue is that his Tessa was not nearly as good as Elizabeth Louise's Hardin. I am now happily over After.

The Best One!!!!

This book was more up and down, back and forth, but man oh man was the slow burn worth it. When I 1st started listening I knew this book was going to make me turn on Hardin, but by the 10th chapter I knew they were going to make it. I'm not even done listening yet and I know they are going to make it. Wahoo Hessa forever!!!!

The Best series ever listen to!!!!

From beginning to the end, the time we listen to the series of these books, it is amazingly spent. This author makes all of our first loves well worth waiting for. Think about your first love, would it really work out like this, or is it just our dreams?

I listen to four.......

I'm not sure I can listen to the fifth book for a while.

I was angry at Tessa one minute and wished I could choke Hardin the next.

The movie was a lot better than the books in my opinion.

Loved it so much it hurts!

By far my favourite book of the series. It’s an epic emotional rollercoaster packed with unexpected plot twists. The author’s ability to precisely put the deepest and truest human emotions to words is exemplary. This book is an invaluable messenger that conveys many important fundamental life lessons to present-day society in the strongest way possible. Overall After Ever Happy qualifies as one of THE BEST novels I’ve ever read

The end of a great tetralogy (series of four)!

Looooooved it. A great book, and I really adore the Hardin we got to know here.

I’ve always wondered about the ending of the Series as a tetralogy, and the initial ending was quite something (in a good way.)🤗
The epilogue did throw me back and fourth a bit with the time changes and everything that happened in between, but it surely made a great ending!!🤩🥺❤️ that last line: ICONIC🤭❤️❤️❤️

Disappointed with the rushed ending

I love these books and having listened to them all and spending hours upon hours listening to their story, and with everything they have gone through, all of a sudden the ending was so rushed, it deserved so much more that skipping year after year and there are still unanswered questions.. I won't mention them here due to not spoiling for anyone who hasn't read it!! but what a shame and pretty frustrating and annoying to be honest!! Narration was great though!

To rushed

Started off as a really good story but towards the end it felt rushed. It justed from 1 year to 2 years to 6 years to 10 years and then the ending made no sense whatsoever. After enjoying the previous books I was really disappointed.

Crying and crying.

Tears, tears and more tears. This is the grand finale (though there is still Hardin's story about his life before Tessa to read yet and Langdon's stories.) to keep this completely spoiler free I will just say that the outstanding writing and fabulous narration made this a finale that made the whole series worth it.
