Publisher's Summary

The world’s most successful criminal empire is now being operated on a massive scale by outlaw motorcycle gangs - an empire that is growing in power, reach, and ruthlessness by the day. Their international empire is both sophisticated and brutal. It is also both strategic and opportunistic - where they cannot dominate, they broker alliances. Above the Law investigates how it all started: the turf wars that were fought, the deals that were done, and how the sea of cash that was earned is now being legitimised.

It also reveals how law enforcement at an international level is losing the battle against the gangs. Using exclusive insider sources on four continents, this is the first contemporary account of one of the biggest criminal stories of our time. Listen to it and be afraid. A companion and follow-up to the internationally-lauded Dead Man Running.

Critic Reviews

"Timely.... A good read, full of accounts of murder, mayhem and dirty dealing. The book is a fascinating look at an important, growing part of Australia’s underworld." ( Sydney Morning Herald)

long winded news story

read like a long winded news story. I found it difficult to get through but if you're interested in a history of where it all started and events over the years it might be for you.

most if not all information seems to have come from News/Media or law enforcement so take that how you want.

Good sound history

For those interested in a more broader perspective on how and why bike clubs were started, grew and continue this is definitely a must listen
There are many ingrained consistencies that Ring true here and although we do not all agree on many of the associated activities it gives you a much broader perspective into the lives and ways of many men

Very Interesting indeed

This book was thoroughly worth listening to. I've learned a lot about these gangs and will never see them the same again. Respect for Police who understand just who they're dealing with.
Michael reads very well at a good pace and very suited to the book. There's some rough language which is not unexpected, considering the charachters its about. I looked up some events and details mentioned which made it even more interesting.

Hard to listen to

Read slow and condescending. Couldn’t finish it unfortunately. Wish I could say something more about it but couldn’t listen to it because of the narrator
