About this listen

When a massive solar flare strikes the Western Hemisphere, it leave the planet's electronic infrastructure destroyed. Jared, who has spent his entire life behind a computer screen, must navigate his way home through a quickly deteriorating society. Shortly after the solar event, Jared is taken in by a grouchy, bourbon drinking old man named Bart. The two men form a special relationship as Bart mentors Jared in a new and dangerous world. While out searching for food, Jared finds a seven-year old girl and brings her back to Bart's place. Both men flounder in their efforts to care for the child in a world not fit for strong men. Jared is in a life-and-death race trying to evolve faster than the world around him is devolving.

I Love the apocalypse genre. My humble thanks to Rick Tippins for this wonderful book. The storyline is educational & entertaining. The characters are incredibly varied, yet remained true to what I imagine are reflective of American society.
It was a pleasure to listen to on my way to and from work, twice!
