Publisher's Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Late summer, 1963.

Fresh from London and a recent cookery course, Alexandra has always loved a challenge.

Which is why she now finds herself standing outside an imposing chateau in Provence.

Waiting for her inside is three silent, rather hostile children who are to be her charges for the next month.

They will soon be more friendly, she tells herself. All they need is some fun, good food and an English education.

Far more of a challenge though is their father - an impossibly good-looking French count with whom she is rapidly falling in love....

Wonderful story

I loved this. So easy to listen to. Very enjoyable storyline and read perfectly. Such a shame it’s finished.

Charming…

A lovely escape to a simpler time…Katie Fforde’s warmth makes this a perfect comfort read, without being twee. I’d love to see what happens next with these characters…

Enchanting

Lovely story written without the need to add too much drama or modern relationship dramas. Much appreciated. Lovely way to take one’s mind off

The second of a trio - doesn’t disappoint

Love a good Katie FForde. Wish she would write quicker but then they wouldn’t have the quality! I look forward to the next book in the series. This book follows Alexandra and it great. Well read too. Another great read - thanks Katie

Loved this!

Throughly enjoyed this, the characters, the setting, it was a good listen.

The fact I had just happened to read the one before, was fantastic and I gave a little ‘yay!’ When I realised the connection.

Well narrated too.

Flat

I really enjoyed her older books but this one was poor. Wooden characters, romance seems to come out of nowhere at the end and cliche themes. It had some good elements that just didn’t go anywhere.

Disappointing

This book is unlike any other I’ve read by KF - more suited to a young Mills & Boon reader. The main character Alexandra was an amazing nanny, a wonderful cook, fluent in French and managed to oversee the renovations of several buildings - quite incredible at 20! Unrealistic and a bit silly.

Best one yet.

I have read and probably listened to every Katie Fforde book.

This book is the best yet, I simply LOVED it, start to finish. As always, you know how it’ll end from early on but that’s the beauty of this type of book, escapism and a wonderful flowing narration.

If there were 10 stars to give, I would!! I’ll listen again on a beach!
