About this listen

The delightfully clever mystery in which Queen Elizabeth II secretly solves a murder at Buckingham Palace, expertly narrated by Samantha Bond (Golden Eye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Die Another Day, Downton Abbey, The Queen and I, The Queen, Home Fires).

Queen Elizabeth II is having a royal nightmare.

A referendum divides the nation, a tumultuous election grips the United States - and the body of a staff member is found dead beside Buckingham Palace swimming pool.

Is it a tragic accident, as the police think? Or is something more sinister going on?

As Her Majesty looks for answers, her trusted assistant, Rozie, is on the trail of a treasured painting that once hung outside the queen's bedroom.

But when Rozie receives a threatening anonymous letter, Elizabeth knows dark forces are at work - and far too close to home. After all, though the staff and public may not realise it, she is the keenest sleuth among them. Sometimes, it takes a queen's eye to see connections where no one else can....

Agatha Christie meets The Crown in A Three Dog Problem, the much-anticipated second book in the Her Majesty the Queen Investigates mystery series by SJ Bennett - for fans of The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman, Agatha Christie and M.C. Beaton's Agatha Raisin.

Please write many more. Beautifully narrated. So skilful. My favourite by far of all maybe even more than Arthur Conan Doyle Agatha Christie and DL Sayers. Cracking.

So much fun! So perfect! Fabulous

Well executed whodunit with Royal flair had me entertained, educated and hypothesising. Nice twists and cleverly solved to the extent that kept the super sleuth identity a secret.

A right royal rort

A lovely series with unexpected suspense. Lots of interesting information and real facts throughout. Very endearing, love the bits with the Queen, her corgis and dorgis, and the gruffness of Prince Philip. So very enjoyable to listen to. Highly recommend.

I never thought I would but I have enjoyed both books in this series. I only listened to the 1st as it was on the included list and I was wanting something fun and not too heavy. it has been a wonderful window into the workings of the palaces with some interesting facts a bonus. looking forward to book 3. Samantha Bond as narrator is marvellous.

I am so delighted this follow up to the first in the series was just as good. Again good story line delivered so well by Samantha Bond. I would love to know what the Queen thinks of these!
Good characters that we are getting to know more and the historical references add a nice addition and now I know about Artemisa Gentileschi too which is rather fun.
If you are thinking about trying this series please do you will not be disappointed!

Another brilliant book - can’t wait for the next one!
