Publisher's Summary

A former gun for hire and a federal agent find themselves on the right side of love but the wrong end of a bullet in this Richter installment from New York Times bestselling author Catherine Bybee.

On a fateful night in Las Vegas, FBI agent Leo Grant is working on a critical detail in a high-profile child prostitution trial when a beautiful woman jumps into the path of a bullet meant for him. Little does Leo know that the woman is Olivia, an ex-assassin who is seeking redemption one good deed at a time.

One minute, Olivia is lunging in front of Leo on the Vegas Strip. The next, she’s waking up in the hospital in a haze of pain with no memory of her past, her enemies, or even her own name.

With Olivia suffering from memory loss and completely unaware of the danger she is in, it’s up to Leo and Neil MacBain’s team of operatives to keep her safe. With Olivia and Leo both unaware of her past crimes, the two have little reason to avoid their growing attraction. Slowly her past seeps in through the cracks as she struggles to find the answers of who she is. When the veil is lifted and her dark past is staring her down, Olivia must turn her back on Leo and the love she can never allow herself to have, and race to find her would-be killer.

Disappointed

I love most of CB’s books. This one was hard to stomach. The main character (Olivia) has memory loss but the hero (Leo) engages in an intimate relationship with her. That is unethical and dubious on many fronts.

Olivia isn’t that great. Feels like an off brand Black Widow. 😒

The narrator doesn’t handle different accents well. Sounded like Rocky and Bullwinkle.

Interesting start, not a good finish

This book started off with a great premise. Then it went off into a very unprofessional situation where an FBI agent is having a sexual relationship with someone they're trying to watch in a house. His colleagues have to listen to this. After that, it was just a love story with some technical information. The performers were good except that the female voice started turning into a valley girl about halfway through.

Brain washed

This story took me a while to become attached because it was difficult to keep characters straight. After a few chapters I became connected with Leo and Olivia and the amnesia section; From there on I was more anxious to see what happened next. Story development became more intense and interesting. Not sure which book is next but will check it out.

Spy novel? Detective story?

This book has everything! A contract killer that is shot by one of her school mates. This wound causes the contract killer to lose her memory.

One of the men protecting her falls in love with her. He had been guarding a young lady who was a witness against a mafia leader. You can see that this story has many curves in it. I really enjoyed it.

The two narrators were great. They really brought the story to life. I recommend you listen to it.

a great continuation of the series

I really enjoy this series by Catherine. The Audible version enhances the story because it includes the accents that the characters would have. the story s well written and brings a lot of missing pieces parts together from the prior story. you don't need to read the first book in the series but I recommend it because it puts it all in perspective. I still can't imagine what those high school girls will live with for the res of their lives. therapy will never correct all that harm. a good love story with some great spy stuff thrown in!

A fabulous story

A FBI agent and assassin, what a combination. This is a very exciting story, filled with suspense, intrigue action, steamy love scenes and an amazing well written plot. I couldn't wait to turn the next page. I strongly recommend.
