Thank you!

I almost never write reviews (sorry to all the amazing authors and narrators). When I saw "A Squirrel's Ascension" in new releases I knew right then and there I would be after I listened.

To sum it up, at least in my perspective; this book has all the things I've come to love, laugh, and be excited about as with the previous stories.

Not going to go into detail, I'll just say this book doesn't disappoint and ends in a quite unexpected and interesting addition to the story of Lucia, Softie, our loveable purple gangster, and the other less important but awesome people (talking about you Mrs. Feathers).

I hope people will see this and pick it up even if you haven't heard the previous stories (you probably should at least listen to the first book though) and check out Virlyce's other works.

Thank you again Virlyce, Mare Trevathan, and anyone else involved in helping to make this possible.

Highly enjoyable sequel

A good sequel, as fun a read(listen) as the books before.
And again, the narrator Mare Trevathan is excellent.

Aggravating! Sorta.

I stumbled into the series last year, and I’ve enjoyed the majority of it. However, I have an issue; it’s the damn squirrel, ugh! I felt the character has doubled down on stupidity. It’s almost hard to believe at times, but I supposed if your listeners/readers are showing an emotional response, it means the characters are well written.

even more meh

I like my fantasy worlds different from ours so any books like this that remind me of bullshit like the culture war and the leftist currently in positions in the entertainment industry that are unfit to be their because they would much rather use their position has a megaphone to push their garbage politics and agendas then entertain people.

Such a boring story.

I had the issue of not loving the last book and equally not hating it enough to not read this one. Unfortunately, this series has just gotten worse and worse.

I get it, the main character is dumber than a box of rocks. Now if she would do something, anything, that was different than the previous books that would be nice. If I wanted the old books, I would re-read them. Instead the characters act like Lucia is getting smarter or has changed, but there is literally zero evidence of that.

I actually don't know if I'll read anymore of this series. I am having the same issues with a lot of other books that have been published from regularly posted online authors.

Laughed so hard tears were coming out of my eyes!

I find this series embarrassingly funny. Not only is it embarrassing that I find it as funny as I do, but the fact that I can't keep from laughing out loud while listening to it in public adds a whole other layer. This book, much like the first two, is quite hilarious, though I'd say slightly less so only because the character and world development are much more significant and the overall story is much more compelling. When this book came out, I decided to binge the 2nd book then shifted straight to this one, and I'd say for 2020, that experience is probably the highlight of my year so far. The only thing I regret is starting on the 2nd book instead of the 1st because 32 hours simply wasn't enough.

As with the previous two books, Mare Trevethan really makes the characters come alive, and I swear I'd miss half of the best parts if it weren't for her.

I can't wait for the 4th book to come out! I have an audible library of more than 2000 sci-fi/fantasy books, and I seriously think this might be my favorite series, and I was overjoyed when I saw that this one had come to audible.

Candy in book form

This book is basically candy. It’s not very complex. It’s not saying anything about our world. The characters aren’t super deep and the story isn’t incredible (although the world building is pretty cool). This is just a fun read. Definitely worth your time, just an all around fun book. I wish more people talked about it.

Downright silly.

I like this series quite a lot, and of course I have some complaints as well. So, for future potential readers, here's the gist of it all.

The ovarall story is very silly, and sometimes it can be quite funny - I've chuckled a good number of times theougbout all 3 books so far. This is sadly tempered pretty severely by the main character, Lucias', all-encompasing stupidity. Thats really the main complaint I have, that the main character is truly, incomparably ignorant & stupid.

She is a loveable character, but outside of getting stronger as the story progresses, she doesn't show any character growth - which saddens me quite a bit. I would love it if she became more aware, learned more about her "friends", and started realizing what she has been doing to the world(s). gradually, of course. I genuinely feel bad for everyone around her... and I've come to love them all more than the main character.

That being said, that is also balanced with other characters developments. Ilya, Softie, Durondel(?) and Puppers are all great characters and every time the story was told from their points of view, I really enjoyed it. There were even some fun minor characters as well.

I also like that the ending of this book was a very happy one for Softie & Lucia, but I won't spoil anything. It's even better that there is a promised sequel! I do look forward to it, and I really hope Lucia can show some growth in it.

I suggest anyone standing on the edge reads the series. It's really enjoyable.

Catch them Mrs Feathers!

I love this series. It was a tiny bit slow to start. Had me chuckling plenty of times.

Stupid? Of course it is that is what makes it fun

I have see many reviews saying the main character is stupid. That is the point and what makes it so fun. Besides how smart would you be if you were sold as a slave and never educated?
