Let go of your mom guilt of not doing enough!

I️ can’t say enough about this book! Emily leans in and gives us a hug in our mess and offers all sorts of wisdom in this four hours of listening. This isn’t a quick fix for a perfect life, but a slow and steady guide to letting go of the mom guilt of not doing better or enough, and holding on to those moments that matter most. Learning little helpful things that make room for the big things. I’m thankful for this book and all the things Emily has so eloquently shared.

Nothing really original or inspiring. Sorry

I was really hoping for a better review as a friend of mine said 'you must read this book' and she really enjoyed it. I, on the other hand , did not find it inspiring at all. As a matter of fact, I do a lot of these things and understand these concepts. The woman who wrote it seems very nice, however I wish I could get a refund.

Pretty simple stuff

Appropriately this is filled with some simple advice. It’s a good reminder of where you can cut out some of what may bog you down and get in the way of enjoying a simpler life. I do have to chuckle a little at some of the parenting advice. It’s hard to hear from someone whose oldest is in kindergarten. I’m sure many new moms may benefit - but there’s a lot of grit that goes with parenting once you have school-age, or teenage or adult children. So I’d have been happier if that part was left out. Because it may have made me cringe more than a little. Overall I enjoyed the book. It’s a good companion to Emily’s planner and Lara Casey’s intentional living books and PowerSheets system.

Narrow view of life

A narrow perspective on the “right” way to live. I’m a busy professional with a family and was looking for ways to simplify my life, but what I read just doesn’t work for us or for me. Her lens is that of a very privileged Southern, Christian white woman and she doesn’t give perspectives on how to simplify that would fit a life outside of one like her own. Also her teaching her son that the way the world works is something to the effect of you give good and you get good in return... That’s simply not the rule for a lot of people. A lot of people “do good” and “give good” and don’t get good because of their positionality to domination and oppression.

Much needed in this time of transition

I chose this book during a rough time of transition for our family. One kiddo started school and another started daycare, and my house is insane! It feels like constantly rushing from one thing to the next with no breathing room. I enjoyed this book and look forward to implementing a lot of the tips Emily suggests. This book was very relatable for me, partially because Emily and I are very similar, same age, same background, children of the same age, middle class, Christian faith and similar goals.

I was a little bummed this book was not narrated by Emily because I feel that it would have come across more genuine. The narrator doesn't do a bad job but I think of book with so many personal references is best narrated by the author.

Practical Ideas to Start You on a More Intentional Path

I wish I would have had this book in my early days of marriage and motherhood. I was hoping it would dig a little deeper, but it is a great list with practical ideas to get you thinkIng about a simplified, organized, and intentional lifestyle. Would make a great bridal shower or baby shower gift.

Thoughtfully written.

Excellently prepared, well thought out. Discussion flows, and provisions are made after each topic for a successful transition to the concept presented.

Some useful suggestions but generally mediocre

You'll find a few good little nuggets of common sense in this book but overall I personally found it lacking in substance. It's also peppered with Christian messages which I found to be irritating and unnecessary.
