Publisher's Summary

The brand-new heartwarming romance from the Sunday Times best-selling author of A Country Escape and A Secret Garden.

Caro Swanson has taken a job in a remote part of Scotland.

She’s answered an ad in The Lady: being a companion to an elderly gentleman who lives in a country estate could be perfect! Surely it is time to make a change and do something different for a while?

The fact that she may also see Alec, the young man whom she met some years previously and whom she has always thought of as her ‘one who got away’, is of course purely incidental.

Soon Caro is falling in love - not only with Alec but with the stunning house and grounds she is now living in. But the estate is in financial difficulties, and it quickly becomes apparent that there is only one way to rescue it.

So begins a magical romantic summer that will take Caro to London to the south of France and back again to Scotland in search of a classic lost perfume that might just restore all their fortunes.

Romance, humour, a cast of warm and totally believable characters and the possibility of happy ever after lie at the heart of Katie Fforde's wonderful new novel.

Brilliant

I am a big Katie Fforde fan & I was not disappointed.
Jilly Bond's accents don't get any better but that just makes you smile not get irritated.
The story was addictive in such a nice way.
Can highly recommend.

A must for fforde fans

I’ve been looking forward to this audible release for some time . I enjoyed the story as it was set in various locations and somewhere other than the Cotswolds. Though I do love those ones too. The characters are fun and I enjoyed the relationship that developed between scarlet and Rowan .
One of those books to listen to whilst working away or doing chores or like myself trying to get to sleep .
Narration is great jilly is so suited to Katie fforde and really does bring the characters to life
Audible can we please have a release of both highland fling and thyme out read by jilly

Warming and lovely

This was my first ever Katie Fforde novel. I listened on Audible. The performance was excellent from the actress and the characterisation of story is really descriptive and relatable. Off to download my next Katie Fforde!

Annoying narration

I only listened to the first chapter of this book. The narrator is incredibly annoying. Every word ending in N or M is dragged out.
The word ‘game’ becomes ‘gamemmmm etc
It got to the point where I just gave up.

uninspiring

I have read other Katie ffyord books and enjoyed them so new what to expect but this had a weak and unrealistic story line and was quite irritating. The narrator was poor.

Not the best.

Found the story rather confusing. & the narration difficult to hear in parts particularly Rowen. Not the best of her stories. Will try it again but have given up at the moment!
