Story
I can remember a time when I baked for fun. I loved dreaming up new recipes, trying different combinations of flavors. Sharing my creations with friends and family. Now? I have nightmares where the TV cameras are on me and I’m baking naked. Or I open my oven and my cake pans are empty. You don’t need to be Freud to figure out I’m freaking out. This week on The Great British Baking Contest could be my last. I am one bad bake away from being waved good-bye.

With a name like Quinn Calahan, I sounded as Irish as a leprechaun dancing a jig on a four leafed clover, but the truth was, I’d never been closer to the emerald isle than drinking green beer at the St Patrick’s day street party in Boston until I messed up so badly I had to leave the US. I was offered a job in a tiny village in Ireland that no one’s ever heard of. And I think that was the point in sending me there.

So cozy! I love this series.
Poppy Wilkinson is back for the third round of the British Baking competition. Everyone wants to give her tips on how to make scones, including the nice elderly lady who works at the gift shop. When this lovely lady dies suddenly, something bothers Poppy about her death. Was it a natural death? As Poppy tries to make scones and a showstopper good enough to stay in the competition, she investigates this new mystery.
This time I could not figure out the culprit at all, which is great. This mystery was out of the ordinary and compelling to me. I love Poppy and the rest of her friends, including the four-footed kind. We even get to know both judges a little better in this installment. We also get a few fascinating tidbits about her family origin mystery. This audiobook was wonderfully cozy while also being tense and unpredictable. There is a sad tone sometimes because characters were grieving the loss of the nice elderly lady.
The narration was superb as always. The narrator’s voice is like music to my ears with her beautiful tone and expert grasp at a variety of British and American accents. She perfectly brings forth the warmth and subtle humor of the book.
I requested and received a free audiocode from the author, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Scones and Murder
Poppy Wilkinson is starting her third week of competition on the wildly popular Great British Baking Show. Poppy is a great baker, but her main reason for competing on the Show is the search for her birth mother. The only clue she has is the handmade blanket that was wrapped around her when she was found abandoned on the doorstep of a bakery. The blanket looks exactly like a shawl in a portrait in Broomwold manor, the site of the Baking show.
Poppy and her friends are once again challenged to bake wonderful creations under great pressure. Unfortunately, Poppy has stumbled upon another dead body, so her focus is mostly on finding the murderer. Will Poppy be able to rise to the baking challenges and remain on the Show? Will she be able to find the murderer? Will her newly found witchy skills help her in any way?
This is a fun and entertaining series and would be perfect for those who love baking shows and cozy mysteries with a hint of the paranormal. I enjoy the inclusion of Gato, Poppy's cat/familiar, and Sly, a resident Border Collie. I also enjoy Poppy's interaction with her friend, Jerry, who is now a ghost in residence at the local pub. The characters are well-developed, the story moves at a fast pace and the book is well-written.
The narrator does a great job with her different voices/accents and her performance makes this an even better book. I was given the chance to listen to this audiobook by the author/narrator/publisher and chose to review it.

A great mix of fun and excitement
I was so looking forward to book 3 Rolling Scone and I definitely was not disappointed! I was thrilled with the perfect amount of humor and suspense combined with the evolving characters it is a wonderful mix, from Poppy herself, to the nonpretentious lady ophelia, Hamish, the funny ghost of Jerry and more. I really enjoy Poppy’s determination to find her birth family and watching her amazement as her witch powers develop, Her ability follow her instincts brings just the right amount of suspense.
And of course the narrating by Hollis Mcarthy is spot on. I found myself making extra time to listen just to keep up with the story.
Looking forward to book 4 in this fun series

ANOTHER ENTERTAINING READ
I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK, THE CHARACTERS, STORYLINES, AND SETTING. THE TV BAKING CONTEST IS FUN, AND I ACTUALLY FIND MYSELF ANXIOUS FOR ONE BAKER OR ANOTHER, AS NANCY DESCRIBES THEIR DILEMMAS OR MISHAPS, NOT TO MENTION THE JUDGING. I HOPE THIS SERIES HAS A LONG LIFE, AND I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK.

Addictive mystery
The third mystery book in the series and I challenge anyone not to get completely drawn in to the story. Both the murder to be solved and the secret behind Poppy's own history. Alongside this is the fun and delights of the baking contest and Poppy's magic beginning to improve. The performance completely drew me in and I can't wait to listen to the next book!

A welcome return
Book 3! I was very excited to get this as I missed the characters like I'd miss a friend.
This one started a bit slower than the first 2 but soon got exciting again.
There wasn't as much magic as I would have liked but that certainly doesn't detract from the story.
This series of books has made me laugh out loud, sad, thoughtful and hungry and I can't wait for book 4.
