Publisher's Summary
The Reluctant Royals series returns with a good girl searching for the life that’s not too big, and not too small, and the bad boy prince who might be just right for her....
Nya Jerami fled Thesolo for the glitz and glamour of NYC but discovered that her Prince Charming only exists in her virtual dating games. When Nya returns home for a royal wedding, she accidentally finds herself up close and personal - in bed - with the real-life celebrity prince who she loves to hate.
For Johan von Braustein, the redheaded step-prince of Liechtienbourg, acting as paparazzi bait is a ruse that protects his brother - the heir to the throne - and his own heart. When a royal referendum threatens his brother’s future, a fake engagement is the perfect way to keep the cameras on him.
Nya and Johan both have good reasons to avoid love, but as desires are laid bare behind palace doors, they must decide if their fake romance will lead to a happily ever after.

Worth it
Nya and her openess, charisma, kindness and beleive in change and positivity flows so well through the book, as she finds her feet after finally getting out under her father's thumb of abuse and toxicity. Johan is a marvel, morphing from a character we haven't had much of shown into someone who is patient, considerate, dependable, real and vulnerable. the complementary traits between these two makes this read worth the wait.

Young Royals with "royal problems". Bombshell**++
Nya has seemingly emotional, trust and "Daddy" issues. It unfolds that her father ran the palace with an" iron fist", controlled her, even using her dead mother to keep her tethered to hm. It appears, he has financial secrets. Although she moves to NYC to attend College, she admits she doesn't partake in campus life easily and has made only 2 friends but enjoys playing virtual fake fiancé games, day and night - instead of interacting with real people. . Johan VonBrauslen along with many other guests are invited to her brother's wedding. He feels alone as he struggles to live up to expectations and a mostly fake glamorous life (staged by him) for the world press and paparazzi. He ends up defending Nya when her family thinks she is behaving inappropriately with him and She bravely defends herself. He sees a kindred spirit in her and asks her to be engaged to him to get her out of Royal faux pas. They both decide a breakup would be announced as soon as the air is clear. She travels with him back to his palace and finds herself enjoying the country. Johan gives her a history of the country and explains how the monarch is being pressured to change. Meanwhile Johan's brother, the heir to the throne, is undergoing change..from a teenager to a young person. He feels that Johan is not listening to him at all, and he begins inciting the people through his online meme and grafitti. Eventually it all comes out...he is PRINCX! Fabulous story!!

Wow! The best in the series.
So good. Two fictional utopias, but still lots of realism in the best way. A hero and a heroine who are both strong and independent, but still learning and growing.

Good
I really liked this book and would recommend it. I wish this book was a movie or TV show. It had a great storyline and sexual storylines. I like the narrator, but I wish JoJo voice was a little better. This couple was my favorite of the three friends. I would have liked to know what the baby was and how Lacus California adventure went. I didn't like all of the emotional highs and lows of the two main characters, but I still liked it.

only one in this series I didn't like
I honestly am returning this.. Its a real bummer that it sucked bc I was really interested in the guys story and liked him in the other books.. But I can't deal with the redioulesness of the main girl.. If out of no where a randomness stranger guy that you didn't know was there before starts holding you while you slept and you don't care or really respond at first or really respond at all I'm done .. you obviously don't have enough since for me to deal with.. I get she has issues and all.. but I feel like she has to much going on and not really all that noticable to be able to be a main character in a book... she's good as a side character... with a small town guy or something.. like she's trying to hard or something too.. but the voice person was good that why I gave that higher response

Very cute romance
My favorite one in the series so far. Nya and Johan were so cute and sweet together, I could really tell they genuinely cared for each other. I loved Nya's journey to be her own person and get out from under her father's thumb, and how she learned to trust herself again. And how Johan learned to be the person he really was, and that he was actually great that way all along. I loved their mutual respect and the love that grew between them. I also loved the family dynamics in here, and again the strong message about sellf-acceptance. The way Nya would play a dating sim was also very cute, and it made me smile The reason why this disn't get a 5 star from me is that I just didn't love their chemistry

Unreservedly Perfect!
Every romance novel should be written by Alyssa Cole, and Karen Chilton should narrate them all. The end. JK not the end, I probably won't ever stop talking about this book. I don't usually like contemporary romance (I usually go for historical and fantasy romance), but Cole's novels are the major exception. Her characters are so real and relatable, and the settings never feel forced or contrived. Some books let you step through a doorway into another world, but this one so closely resembles the real world that it's no work at all to immerse yourself in the story. Every detail is perfect. The pacing is a treat; every time I think things are about to wrap up, there's another twist, offering a few more hours' enjoyment! Having met several of the characters in previous novels, it was so satisfying to see Nya get her own happy ending, after everything she endured. I also especially enjoyed the bits of folklore sprinkled in, and all of the allusions to a fox or trickster god. The narration is excellent; Chilton swings easily from African to European to North American accents, and all of the characters' voices are easily distinguishable. It's especially impressive considering many of the countries in the book are fictional, but based on real places/regions, so some of the accents had to be a fine balance of identifiable but vague. I love that black women take centre stage in such an authentic way in this and Cole's other books. They feel like real women whose lives and and experiences differ in significant ways to mine as a white woman--and I feel so grateful to get a window into that experience--but those differences never made the characters' inner lives, desires, and emotions any less familiar and relatable to me. These are the princess stories that black women (and other under-represented folks, like disabled and trans/non-binary people) deserve, in a market so oversaturated with wispy white women swooning on seemingly every cover. And these complex, realistic, modern black women get their hunky prince in the end, as they damn well deserve! (OH AND I ALMOST FORGOT: this book is sexy as hell! I loved how tenderly Nya's lack of experience was treated; JoJo never rushed her or pressured her, not even subtextually or passive-aggressively, as is sometimes presented as "romantic" in romance novels and the wider culture. I liked the slow burn that their taking it slow provided, but the book still has a decent amount of steaminess at the same time. Alyssa Cole is a master at her craft, no doubt.)
