Publisher's Summary

Trapped in a burning cabin on a freezing, snow-covered mountain, Selma Falck has no idea where she is or how she got there. She barely makes it out in time as the flames engulf the cabin. With no signs of human habitation nearby, the temperature rapidly dropping and a blizzard approaching, how will she survive?

As Selma fights the cold, the hunger and her own wounds, she eventually forms a frightening picture of the past six months. Not only does she have to find a way to stay alive, she needs to make it back to civilization. Murder has been committed, and a great injustice must be stopped. The very future of the nation itself is at stake....

Brilliantly plotted and gripping thriller

This is the second of Anne Holt’s latest series featuring the fascinating and beautifully crafted character of Selma Falck. Both novels have been hugely entertaining both in terms of storyline and the development of really interesting and complex characters including the former policeman Einar and the journalist Lars. The Audible reading by Charlotte Strevens is also excellent: thoughtful, engaging and well paced. I can’t wait for the next in what I hope will be a long series.
