This could almost have been such a cool, fun story. It's a great idea but I'm so frustrated by how it was put together. there are bits that are really funny and charming and suspenseful but then you'll get these lines that just make your eyes roll like nobody actually proofread the book. And the actual recording is so weird, you've got the female narrator reading like its a romcom and the male narrator whose reading like it's true crime., and neither one of them seems to have listened to how the other one did the voices? They both have great voices but their telling completely different stories! And some of those mispronounciations sheesh. I have to think nobody listened to the finished recoridng either because I don't know how those mistakes got past the gate otherwise! I wish this was better, I really wanted to like it!

Funny, engaging, riveting story, rich with references to all sorts of wonderful literature from Austen to Lewis. I read this without knowing anything about it or the author and had low expectations but this book was the best literary surprise I have had in many years! Charming, inventive and thoroughly captivating, I loved it!
