Publisher's Summary

Australia is reeling. The world is in shock.

Chinese commandos in a lightning raid have seized the vast, under-populated, resource-rich lands of Northern Australia. Thousands of Australian soldiers are held hostage. International realpolitik has left Australia abandoned by its supposed allies, and its brittle social fabric is rapidly unwinding as the people panic.

A Chinese ultimatum demands the annexation of the country’s top half in 10 days, or face a full scale invasion. As other politicians clamor to sue for peace, Prime Minister Gary Stone, in a desperate race against time and impossible military and political odds, must commit to a risky and radical plan to try and free the country....

Very well read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It's very well read and exciting as well as funny with it raw Australian humour. Well researched with Australian military history and content.

details

great overall story with a good plot, however, it's the details that let the book down. military jargon, terminology and ttps remind the listener that it's a story crafted by a person who failed due diligence in research. the SAS squad for example isn't a thing. I did like the book, but one is torn from the plot with a slap to the face when inaccuracies are presented. the big armoury on Lavarack, the troops on the camp and other civilian assumptions wash the story down.

Believable

I am not ordinarily a fan of this sort of fiction, but was drawn to the fact that it was set in Australia in current time. I found it to be a believable scenario which highlighted how vulnerable our coastline really is. The story unfolded nicely and I enjoyed the pace, but felt it was resolved a little too quickly in the end. I would have liked it to unfold over a longer time span, Performance of the Australian characters was wonderful, but the Chinese accents were a little hard to listen too.
