See the world. Then make it better.

I am 93. I've had an extraordinary life. It's only now that I appreciate how extraordinary.

As a young man, I felt I was out there in the wild, experiencing the untouched natural world - but it was an illusion. The tragedy of our time has been happening all around us, barely noticeable from day to day - the loss of our planet's wild places, its biodiversity.

I have been witness to this decline. A Life on Our Planet contains my witness statement and my vision for the future - the story of how we came to make this, our greatest mistake, and how, if we act now, we can yet put it right.

We have the opportunity to create the perfect home for ourselves and restore the wonderful world we inherited.

All we need is the will to do so.

His Life for all of us.

Amazing that David wrote this at 93 years of age. This book is his continuing story of a life spent in the natural world and bringing into our lives, our homes, our living rooms. He has had an enormous impact on my life. A life on my planet is set out and told in David's usual manner. Moving from grim with a host of information to more information exploring what we may do and finally moving to solutions that are already underway. His explorations throughout this book and indeed thought his life inspires me to do similar. That is to listen, research and come up with actions I might take. Thank you for this book David and thank you for being a most enjoyable and positive part of my life. My daughter Chloe who is a beautiful woman now, in her earlier years took to giving me books and videos of David's as she knew I loved his work. Now she and her children are part of the solution David talks about. She lives her life with an eye to leaving a small footprint and is a wonderful Mother. Again thanks David. xxxx Kevin

It's not just doom and gloom

Doesn't pull any punches in the possibilities of the calamities in store for us. There is hope in the positive steps we can take to save our biodiversity and provide a positive future for the inheritors of what we leave behind

An absolute must-read/listen!

A book with the most important message that I hope everyone chooses to read and take in. Even better as an audiobook with David Attenborough’s voice. Harrowing and inspiring at the same time. Brilliant.

A great life

If this is his swan song, then what a great way to do it. His life is amazing, his contribution has been amazing and I’m there, fully behind the thoughts on how we can all do our part to save the planet and ourselves.

David Attenborough is a remarkable man.

Thought provoking, insightful, and really made me think about the damage being done to the world and everything in it. The film of a similar name was fantastic to watch, and this book is a more in-depth look at the subjects covered in the film. If Attenborough can change his lifestyle in his 90s then so can we all. I hope this book makes a difference, I know it has to me.

Heartbreaking, shocking but never defeated

This is a story about the human race from the wonders we’ve created to the worlds we are destroying. It is a warning call that lays out the terrifying trajectory we’re headed towards. It is also a beacon of hope that shows how individuals can make the difference to our survival. Probably one of the most important books of our time.
