Publisher's Summary

This program opens features an introduction read by Arnold Palmer and is narrated by Rich Lerner of the Golf Channel.

"This wasn't a "job" for me. This was a true privilege, because Arnold Palmer's story is important, and not simply because he's an American icon. His story's an inspiration, even a guide for all of us on how to live "a life well played," because as you'll hear in the book, Arnie lived and played by a simple principle. 'Go for it.'" - Rich Lerner on his experience narrating A Life Well Played

No one has won more fans around the world and no player has had a bigger impact on the sport of golf than Arnold Palmer. In fact, Palmer is considered by many to be the most important golfer in history.

As a follow-up to his 1999 autobiography, Palmer takes stock of the many experiences of his life in A Life Well Played, bringing new details and insights to some familiar stories and sharing new ones. Palmer has had tremendous success but is most notable for going about it the right way and always giving back to the fans who made it all possible. Gracious, fair, and a true gentleman, Arnold Palmer is the gold standard of how to conduct yourself. He offers advice and guidance, sharing stories of his career on the course, success in business and the great relationships that give meaning to his life. A True Gentlemen Playing a Gentlemen's Sport

Arnold Palmer's life story in his own words and read with reverence by Rich Lerner from the Golf Channel. He was a humble, but proud man whose character was shaped by a firm but loving father, whom he affectionately referred to as Pap. This book traces Arnold's life from humble beginnings as the son of a hard working survivor of the depression. His father was a self taught greens keeper and agronomist who would go on to become a self taught head professional at Latrobe Country Club. Under his father's tutelage, Arnold would go on to become the pre-eminent golfer of his time. Like all sports legends, his greatness was ultimately overcome by younger and stronger competitors, primarily in the form of Jack Nicklaus. Unlike many athletes that might become bitter or spiteful as another great rival begins to emerge, Arnold's true character is shown by the fact that the two rivals would go on to become great friends and business associates. To my surprise, Arnold's many athletic achievements may have only been eclipsed by his homespun business acumen that allowed him to become one of sport's wealthiest atheletes. A great read/listen.

Arnie would

I loved the book, and the stories made me appreciate Mr. Palmer even more. Growing up & learning to play golf in Pittsburgh, I always knew of Arnie as a local legend, but I never really knew the details of his career. This book was not only entertaining, but it also taught me a bunch about how to play & appreciate the game of golf. Well written, well read, and thoroughly enjoyed.
