Publisher's Summary

Alejandro Santos is a sharp-as-nails detective who's been struck with a spell of boring cases. He's left unstimulated and unhappy. That is, until Griffin walks in through the doors of Stonewall Investigations and suddenly, everything changes.

Griffin Banks is the son of a tech mogul and from the outside in, appears to have everything set. But Griffin's battling intense demons of his own. Things get exponentially worse when he wakes up from a drug and alcohol-fueled blackout to find his friend in his living room. His dead friend. Someone murdered her and left him behind.

Griffin's case is exactly what Alejandro was looking for, and Alejandro happened to be exactly who Griffin was looking for. When powerful sparks begin to fly between the two, both men will be faced with new challenges. They'll be tested in ways neither would have ever seen coming. Griffin and Alejandro will need to navigate a winding, treacherous road on their journey to finding happiness together.

Contains mature themes.

A lovely couple

I liked the story told from the two characters perspective - and romantic normalized fun.

Another winner

This second book of the series is another winner. Max Walker has written main characters with heart, who find love while investigating a murder while managing grief, alcohol addiction, and mental illness. Alex and Griffin are multi-dimensional people who have serious issues, both historical and present, that they have to deal with but don’t let get in the way of their romance. While this is in the category of romantic suspense, there isn’t a lot of detective/procedural detail, the main focus is on the relationship that develops between the characters who are brought together by a murder. I’m off to buy the next in series!

is he a killer

A lethal live by Max walker. Poor Griffith has blackouts and can not remember things at times, but is he a murderer?
Alex is a detective that will prove his man is innocent if it kills him.
Also, the unicorn killer? Will they be any closer to solving this case.
I loved this story and the chemistry between the MMCS

Interesting redemption romance / murder mystery!

Alejandro Santos loves working at Stonewall Investigations but he no longer feels challenged by the cases until he meets Griffin Banks, a client who has been implicated in the murder of his flatmate. Griffin is a mess. Unable to cope with life and his bipolar disorder, he’s estranged from his father and often mixes alcohol with his meds leading to blackouts and terrible highs and lows. Alex can see the good person in Griffin and works to save him from himself and the murder rap. This redemption romance was such an improvement on the first book, the story focussed more on the murder case and Griffin’s issues as well as the growing relationship between the two men. It was interesting and engaging and the characters were much more believable. Audio narrator Greg Boudreaux was excellent.

90% romance, 10% actual mystery

The starting and ending 10% of this book are great; interesting scenario that draws you in. But dear me, the middle 80% is two people fawning over each other:

“He’s so perfect”, “All I need is him, for me to be complete” “I could die looking into his eyes”.
It gets monotonous and tedious pretty quickly. The characters themselves are amazingly well written, but the lack of story and mystery was too imbalanced for me.
