About this listen

Steve Lake receives a phone call during his consultant training exercise in Houston, Texas, that his father has passed away. Steve is distraught after hearing the news about his father. Steve makes arrangements to travel to Ontario, Canada, with his family. Steve is in disbelief as he leaves Houston driving back home. Steve remembers his father surrounding him with so much love after his mother died in the year 1972.

While thinking about all the beautiful things he and his father have done, Steve hears his phone beep three times, telling him he has a message. Steve pulls over to the side of the road and then stops his car to listen to his message. He received a phone call from his aunt Meg telling him he had to stop for the night somewhere. A storm is just above him in Louisville, heading in this direction. If you wait a day or so, you should be fine when Steve hangs up the phone and then looks up to see a sign for a restaurant ahead.

Steve stops at a café and meets Tonya, a server who works there. Steve mentioned he was thinking of finding a place to stay for the night when Tonya told Steve her parents owned a bed and breakfast down the road a spell. Steve says that sounds great to him, then decides to take Tonya up on her offer. Steve and Tonya hit it off for two days when Steve must leave to return home when Steve finds himself in the middle of a snowstorm that cripples the highway that he is on. Tonya and her family watch as the news reports several accidents and fatalities. Let us listen to find out what Steve’s fate is here as he tries to travel back home to Canada to talk about his father's love at his funeral.
