Great book, terrible narrator!

I am a huge fan of Sarah J Maas and read this series on my kindle 2 years ago. I recently started a job that requires a lot of driving and decided to try audiobooks. I just finished listening to the Throne of Glass Series narrated by Elizabeth Evans, which is 10/10.
I purchased this book and from the first chapter I was so incredibly disappointed with the narration. I made it to chapter 15 before I switched to my kindle to finish the book. The narrators voice is so monotone and robotic. It is a bit easier to get through in the beginning, but once Tamlin and Lucien are more present, it is very hard to differentiate between their “voices”. I also found it hard to know when the characters were speaking at all, as there was no clear difference in the narrators voice. Lastly, the long pauses between sentences left me feeling like I was wasting my time. I feel like there would be at least 30 minutes of lengthy and unnecessary pauses throughout the whole book if it was all added up.
I absolutely love this series, but I am so disappointed that I spent money on this audible version. I will be steering clear of this narrator.
I am not one to normally post negative reviews, but I just wanted to warn other listeners in my position.

Saved by the ending

The majority of this story was nothing to write home about, the protagonist is a bit of a damsel in distress despite having some skills of her own, the love interest was as generic as possible and the pacing of the romance felt rushed. Definitely saved from a 2.5 by the last quarter, which was definitely more original introduced more dynamic characters and allowed Feyre to become more of a three dimensional character.

took a while before the story took off

I like the story but the narrators voice is not blesent. Her accent is so strong I keep focusing on her voice rather than the actual book.

Thrillingly fantastic book, horrible narration

Hated the narrator, swear I started becoming depressed listening to it. Although I have read the book without narration and it is very enjoyable, these are some of my favourite books. Sarah J Maas is an excellent author.

Narrator was hard to listen to. almost stopped multiple times. It's worth sticking to it though

Fairytale dream!

Loved this story. I did struggle a bit at first because I kept finding similarities with this and Beauty and the Beast. But of course, once I pushed past that I fell in love with the characters and the slow but steady build the story had over all.

Great! Got used to narrators voice

Read a lot of reviews saying that the narrators voice put them off, her voice and style did take a few chapters to get used to, but after that great! Don’t let the other reviews put you off

Pretty disappointed

For this being one of the biggest books at the moment I was so disappointed. The main character is whiny, unrelatable and unlikeable, the plot is soo predictable and there was no cliff hanger or anything of interest that happened at the end to make you want to pick up the next book….. boring

Badly narrated, infantile storyline.

Oh I struggled with this one. I tried .. I really did but, for my own sanity, had to stop a third of the way in.

How is this not the world's longest (and most boring) rip off of The Beauty and the Beast? To make it worse, the narration is absolutely abysmal. The narrator draaaags theee woooords ooooouuuuttt and ends EVERY sentence with an inflection. I rolled my eyes so hard I saw my own butt.

Not for me sorry. I note there are a lot of fans who gave it great reviews so - each to their own, I guess.
