Publisher's Summary
An Amazon Charts and Wall Street Journal bestseller.
"Tracy Crosswhite is one of the best protagonists in the realm of crime fiction today, and there is nothing cold about A Cold Trail." (Associated Press)
In New York Times bestselling author Robert Dugoni's riveting series, Seattle homicide detective Tracy Crosswhite returns home to a brutal murder and her haunted past.
The last time homicide detective Tracy Crosswhite was in Cedar Grove, it was to see her sister's killer put behind bars. Now she's returned for a respite and the chance to put her life back in order for herself, her attorney husband, Dan, and their new daughter. But tragic memories soon prove impossible to escape.
Dan is drawn into representing a local merchant whose business is jeopardized by the town's revitalization. And Tracy is urged by the local PD to put her own skills to work on a new case: the brutal murder of a police officer's wife and local reporter who was investigating a cold-case slaying of a young woman. As Tracy's and Dan's cases crisscross, Tracy's trail becomes dangerous. It's stirring up her own haunted past and a decades-old conspiracy in Cedar Grove that has erupted in murder. Getting to the truth is all that matters. But what’s Tracy willing to risk as a killer gets closer to her and threatens everyone she loves?

Having babies is hard work but...
...this is ridiculous (LOL). Tracy is working harder during her maternity leave then when she’s “on the job “. And it’s not at being a new mom. This is a super addition to the Tacy Crosswhite series. As with the others in this series it can be listened to as a stand alone. I would suggest listening to the entire series though. Not only for continuity but because this is a great series. I would also suggest listening to Dugoni’s David Sloane series as well.
I see Wayne (Matthews, NC) has already written a very good review so I’ll just ditto to his.
If you’ve never listened to any of the other books than I hope you will. This is certainly worth the low purchase price and if you have kindle unlimited, what are you waiting for????
Emily Sutton Smith is one of the best woman narrators. She does an outstanding job.

Tracy is a new mother
While she is on maternity leave with their 2 month old daughter Seattle homicide detective Tracy Crosswhite and her lawyer husband Dan return from their home in Seattle to the small Washington town where they grew up. Tracy gets involved in solving some old murders and Dan gets involved in legal aspects of the murders in Book 7 of Robert Dugoni's Tracy Crosswhite series. I'm a Dugoni fan. All of his books are in my Audible library; if he writes it I will read or listen to it. He never disappoints! Emily Sutton-Smith continues her excellent narrations as the voice of Tracy Crosswhite. Very highly recommended!
Kindle Unlimited members can listen to A COLD TRAIL at no extra cost. Anyone can get the audio book for $1.99 after buying the Kindle ebook version for $5.99 at Amazon, so do not use an Audible credit.

Another Fantastic Tracy Crosswhite Story
I have been reading Tracy Crosswhite novels since the first one came out. I immediately fell in love with Tracy, Dan, Faz and the rest of the great cast of characters and have never missed a single entry in the series.
In this one Tracy, her husband Dan and their baby daughter Daniella are staying in their home town of Cedar Grove while they are waiting for their home in Seattle to be remodeled. When the former chief of police asks Tracy to help him clear the name of the current chief. Though Tracy loves spending time with her baby part of her is missing work. There is also the fact that part of the case involves the murder of her dead sister Sarah's friend who was found dead just months before Sarah disappeared. Once again Tracy uncovers the dark side of Cedar Cove.
Emily Sutton-Smith is my favourite narrator and she was outstanding with the delivery of the story

One of my favorite series!
Another great addition to this series. I wish Dugoni ONLY wrote this series as I find it far superior to his other novels. It has an interesting, intricate story with the same great characters. Tracy has matured and is learning there are things in life more important than work. I've listened to this series as each book released and they are all good, but this one was really, really good. The narration is also fantastic. It's a free listen for Kindle Unlimited subscribers, but I'd happily use a credit to listen to this one.

News Worthy
As Tracy and Dan come back into town. Roy tells Tracy about Finley's wife dying as she was working on a storty that involved the death of Finley's old high school sweetheart. When an investigator is also killed due to what he learned, Finley is the prime suspect. As Tracy looks into all the deaths, Dan works on a case involving property ownership. Beknowest to them their cases are connected. Tracy is hit briefly by a car and someone mistakes the nanny as her, is shot at.
All evidence doesn't look good for Finley, but the truth was far more deeper then what Dan, Fiasco, Roy or Tracy imagined. You find out that bitterness takes on a whole new meaning in this story. Aother great book.

Yeah but no!!
I love the book, but the Irish accent was painful to listen to!! She'd get one word right out of every third or fourth accent and this isn't the only accent she's done in these books that were nothing short of horrendous!! The rest of the performance was otherwise great!!

Not as good
While I did enjoy the book, I like the trial parts and the legal arguments, but this type of book is what I call a “filler” where they’re trying to factor a perceived inconvenient part of the story, which could maybe have just skipped on six months and a new book started there. This probably won’t make sense until you read it and I would recommend it, but as I said not as good as the others

Good instalment in the series
A good plot which ties up some loose ends from previous episodes in Tracy Crosswhite’s story. Difficult to listen to the dreadful ‘Irish’ accent though, also the strange Norwegian one.
This is often a problem with narrators who can read well, but not act or assume an accent. The previous book in this series was the same, with poor attempts at ‘Indian’ voices.
If you can get past that, the story is a good combination of Tracy’s home and working lives and the tensions between them.

Loved it! Engaging narrator who really made the story with her acting and voices and consistency. Compelling storyline
