Publisher's Summary

Graduate student Lizzie Petrie feels more comfortable around books than people. Although an expert in the Hitler Youth, she’s a novice in love. Her former lesbian lover is blackmailing her, and not even those closest to Lizzie know the full story of their abusive relationship.

When visiting high school, English teacher Sarah crosses Lizzie’s path at the campus. Their attraction is instant but not without complications. As they start to spend more time together, suspicions arise from both women in this sexy piece of LGBT fiction.

Plenty of good-natured teasing takes place between lovers as well as between PhD students in this lesbian contemporary romance. No relationship path ever runs smoothly, and oftentimes, those who can’t keep their mouth shut hasten necessary confrontation.

Lizzie finds herself buried in a mess of lies in this romantic comedy. The harder she tries to keep Sarah and the rest of her friends from finding out the truth about her first girlfriend, the more endearingly clueless she becomes.

Wickedly Charming!

Wonderfully charming storyline! I am looking forward to listening to the remainder of the series. I have followed the Author and Clare Lydon on their podcast, "Lesbians Who Write" for a while now. I can now see several ways that she has integrated some of herself into her characters. She is a very witty writer! So far, I recommend the series as I have listened to a couple of the others out of order! The narrator, Stephanie Murphy is a very good narrator and does a nice job of bringing the story to life! she has a certain cadence to her tone that may take a minute to capture you, but after a few minutes, you will find that it is charming! Well done!

From the beginning

I appreciate the opportunity to learn about Lizzie’s life from the very beginning. I think Sarah will be the best addition to her life if she doesn’t sabotage it. I think is is boarder line autistic really. I have started the next one already. Stephanie Murphy was wonderful as always.

Great listen!

TB Markinson’s Woman Lost series is fantastic and Stephanie Murphy does a fantastic job bringing life to the characters. Poor Lizzie really is clueless. Lucky Sarah adores it and loves her anyways.

As relationships happen

This was a great book. Stephanie Murphy did an excellent job of bringing T.B. Markinson's characters to life. The best part of this listen was that the story line is so real the emotion and suspense that the narration brings through keeps you engaged from the onset to the closing lines. I may be a bit biased as a fan both the author and the narrator.

clueless and shy?

It was hard not to love the main character since she reminds me of me. Her way on approaching life snd dealing with issues is priceless and so close to how I feel about life. Wonderful story.

Amazing

Lizzie and Sarah are a very special couple learned to love. Lizzie is a complicated character, a reserve, brilliant historian sometimes clueless to her surroundings. The story is amazingly well written, spicy and interesting. I enjoyed so much I recommend it.

Getting over the ex from hell

The narration didn’t work for me at all (it was too slow so I tried to adjust the speed and then it was too fast, and I also couldn’t help feeling the narrator’s voice was too « old », in a way, for the characters) so my opinion is probably tainted by that. I still enjoyed this, it just wasn’t the kind of voice and narration I like. Anyway. While this might sound like a romance, it’s more about the difficulty of getting over an abusive relationship, of trusting again but also of talking about it, allowing others to know. The whole story between Lizzie and Sarah is sweet and lovely but the real story is Lizzie finding herself after the ex from hell. The secondary characters have a real depth too, and have a real purpose in the story. I also like that the author gave Graves’ Disease to her main character, a condition she herself suffers from and knows well. It gave Lizzie another layer and at the same time educated me on this disease. Now I’ll just have to read A Woman Lost again (I’ve read it before but my memory works in mysterious ways).

Secrets and Scars

Excellent story that deals with the shame of domestic abuse and finding love. Lizzie meets Sarah and struggles to let her in on her secrets and scars. If she doesn't, she just might lose the woman of her dreams.

Can Lizzie let someone in?

This is the question she ponders in this story. Her past still has a grip on her life and it’s not a past she wants to remember. Really good story and Stephanie does a great job telling it!

Really enjoyable listen

I really enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters. It was a bit dark in places due to Lizzie’s past. I liked her having no idea about certain situations. I hope the other books I find out more about Lizzie and Sarah which demonstrates how good the listen was.

Fantastic book

This is the first book I have had from T.B. Markinson, and I have to say I really enjoyed it; it was well written and narrated. It has a nice story and some funny moments with Lizzie being clueless about things. The book has a good ending, and now can't wait to read Book 1: A woman lost. The only thing I would have liked though is the audio to have been linked/ synced to the kindle book as I like to follow along with the book, but maybe this will happen in the future.

Another hit!

I have read all the books in the series and approached the audio with some trepidation, but I found it easy to listen to and enjoyed the story yet again. Stephanie Murphy does a good job in adding to the Markinson storyline and thus it earns its 5* rating all round.
