A Claim of Fortune feels like lounging in a hammock while the plot naps—until the final stretch, when it suddenly races to catch up. I had to speed up the audiobook to get through filler and repetition.

The highlight of this installment is the full cast narration by Michelle Sparks, Aaron Shedlock, Gregory Salinas, Jake Bordeaux, and Noel Harrison. Their vibrant, distinct voices elevate every scene, making the characters come alive and significantly improving the listening experience.

Character growth keeps you invested, but the story’s pacing could benefit from tighter plotting—this series might have worked better as a trilogy.
