Irina obsessively takes explicit photographs of the average-looking men she persuades to model for her, scouted from the streets of Newcastle. Publisher's Summary
Eat Pray Love meets American Psycho in a seductive and sinister debut literary thriller.
Food critic Dorothy Daniels indulges in her homicidal urges by murdering her lovers and devouring their organs in this intense, visceral, and lushly told tale of food, sex, power, and the pursuit of a very particular taste set between New York and Italy.

Utterly delicious
I once wrote on Twitter that I want to be Chelsea G. Summers when I grow up and, to be honest, a tiny, sociopathic part of my id wishes I could grow up into Dorothy Daniels.
The splashy, slashy summary of the book is in no way misleading - if you want gory, sticky, wet thrills, A Certain Hunger certainly has them. But the main course of this delight in the examination of embodied female life - the hunger that comes with being flesh and that flesh being female.
An Audible original, the performance is great, and I'll never be able to cleave Dorothy Daniels from Hillary Huber's voice - but I also hope to get my hands on a physical book and see these words on the page.
Easily one of my favourite books of 2019.

Guilty pleasure
A unique and interesting read overall. The narrator is incredibly and eerily believable and deserves a round of applause. The concept was unique and brilliant, plus again, totally believable. The descriptions are incredible and immersive. The only thing I think could have been improved was the story arc/ending. It kind of just dropped off and I was left wanting more in a disappointing way. But nevermind, it was still a fantastic read.

Deliciously Gory and Lush Language
I was salivating to listen to this from the minute I read the description and hit preorder immediately. After listening to it twice I can safely say it satisfies. Chelsea G Summers' lush writing style will leave you hungry one moment and disgusted the next as she paints vivid scenes of culinary delights and bloody murder. The protagonist is unlikable but also someone you'd secretly love to be. The memior style narration lets her chew on the scenery like over cooked steak (which she would never abide) it the best possible way. If you love a bloody page turner with a healthy amount of purple prose and just gagging for a female serial killer who could go toe to toe with Hannibal Lector, this is for you.

Brilliant book
The theme, writing style and plot was absolutely amazing. I was so invested.
Only annoying thing was that the narrator couldn’t pronounce certain words like psychopathy! Which made it feel inauthentic
