About this listen
My body is made of scars,
some were done to me,
but most I did to myself.
Keera is a killer. As the King’s Blade, she is the most talented spy in the kingdom. And the king’s favored assassin. When a mysterious figure moves against the Crown, Keera is called upon to hunt down the so-called Shadow.
She tracks her target into the magical lands of the Fae, but Faeland is not what it seems—and neither is the Shadow. Keera is shocked by what she learns and can’t help but wonder who her enemy truly is: the King that destroyed her people or the Shadow that threatens the peace.
As she searches for answers, Keera is haunted by a promise she made long ago, one that will test her in every way. To keep her word, Keera must not only save herself but an entire kingdom.

Think I'll have to move on to book 2 and look at other work by this author!

However, I’m not sure how this ranks as LGBTQI+
The main character is bisexual but the whole plot/romance is with a male. There is a past w/w romance mentioned but surprise, one of them is dead. Kind of main stream, let’s kill off the women loving women to me.
Performance was good, I just feel really queer baited.
Enjoyable but misleading

The narration impressed me. I tend to find I enjoy stories that shift between characters and have male and formal readers. I get frustrated and often stop listening when I can’t tolerate poor narration. I had not one moment of wishing the story and narration were different or could be better in any way.
Personal preferences that influence my review:
I love intelligent stories with characters who have developed their strength through facing and surviving the kinds of adversities that can make or break. I feel frustration at characters who are naive in their mistrust and secret keeping, and those who are slow and ignorantly stubborn when it comes to acceptance of newly discovered realities. I like when the characters are intelligent in their discernment of conditions and people such that the level of mistrust and openness is balanced and not drawn out to the point that I feel myself wanting to scream at them to stop being so stupid.
I also respect authors who can explore some of the enduring inherent struggles recurrent and inherent in the human condition that many of us face and fight through as our paths unfold; and in so doing - explain and make sense of personal struggles with a quality of honesty and depth that helps others gain deeper understandings of those they may know who are, or have, experienced them. Narratives that are set within social, political, historical contexts that do the same - also garner my admiration and appreciation.
So all the stars and props to the author, narrator and those who collaborated to share these books and stories
