Publisher's Summary

Though Magnus MacLeish and Lark MacDougall grew up on the same castle grounds, Magnus is now laird of the great house and the Isle of Kerrera. Lark is but the keeper of his bees and the woman he is hoping will provide a tincture that might help his ailing wife conceive and bear him an heir. But when his wife dies suddenly, Magnus and Lark find themselves caught up in a whirlwind of accusations, expelled from their beloved island, and sold as indentured servants across the Atlantic.

Yet even when all hope seems dashed against the rocky coastline of the Virginia colony, it may be that in this New World, the two of them could make a new beginning - together.

Laura Frantz's prose sparkles with authenticity and deep feeling as she digs into her own family history to share this breathless tale of love, exile, and courage in Colonial America.

Am I missing chapters??

Everybody that knows me knows that I love books by Laura Frantz. Her books have a wonderful mix of faith, history with a sweet love story. I especially love listening to her books because she always has wonderful narrators who add dimension to her stories. (Bravo Ms Lilly!) This book, I have to admit, left me baffled. The beginning and middle had me engaged and thoroughly enjoying the story. It weaved a lovely tale filled with Scottish and Virginia history and an endearing love story that was built on faith. 🙏

Sadly, the ending was abrupt. It was the oddest thing! You should have seen me.....I was listening on my Ipod....It ended and I actually went to the download to double check because I thought it was missing chapters. I couldn't believe it. It just ended! (Like someone just thru cold water in my face!). Did you ever have a wonderful dream that took you on a great journey......then you abruptly wake up only to be mad because the dream didn't finish? Well, that is what I felt with this book! 😭

Ms. Frantz, I hope this book is the beginning of a series because you can't leave it like this!! This story deserves more. Your readers deserve more. I need to wake up from my dream satisfied!! Please!! 😃

It was fine.

This was a lot of woe, and not a lot of excitement. While I appreciated the occasional message of faith, I found certain parts/characters completely unnecessary. I’m wondering if there will be a sequel to answer some unanswered questions, and stabilize things a bit in my mind. All in all, it’s a slow build but has its moments.

Incredible narrator

This is a sweet story, somewhat predictable, but pleasant, full of The Word, and nice.
The narration, however, was absolutely incredible! I will immediately look for other books narrated by Aimee Lilly.

Top Notch Production!

Aimee Lilly did a fantastic job narrating this beautiful moving story by Laura Frantz. First of all, the Scottish accents made for pleasing listening. Also, there were many characters and the narrator had a distinct voice for each one. I thought that the pace of the narration matched the action of the story perfectly. This well researched historical fiction grabbed my attention. The marvelous main characters faced struggles yet, clung to their faith to move forward despite their circumstances. Of course, the romance was developed wonderfully. Frantz weaves together a storyline that was engrossing and I soon found myself looking for any reason to listen. I was given a copy of this audiobook by the publisher. All opinions are mine.

Beautiful, Heart-wrenching, Dramatic

The narration of this beautiful, heart-wrenching story was magnificent!
Truly a dramatic tale, filled with breathtaking scenery from Scottish Isles to the Virginia Colonies and Jamaica.
Having grown up together and being schooled together despite the differences in station Lark and Laird Magnus first share a deep friendship. When tragedy strikes Lady Isla, wife of Magnus, Lark and Magnus find their lives forever changed.
Magnus is able to use his ties with a powerful friend to make things a little better for them both but they are still to be indentured servants to the man. There is so much more I wish I could say but I don't know how without giving spoilers.
The only reason this isn't a 5-star book for me was the ending. It was over too soon, I want to know more.

The Outlander, But Better

A Bound Heart by Laura Frantz’ is like the Outlander with hope, faith and love. Lark and Magnus are bound in love from childhood, but life snatches their happiness and steals all they hold dear. Their life in Scotland is over, facing prison and death. Then there is a providential plan for them both. Laura Frantz goes to the top of my list with this book.
