Story
In 1984, at the age of 20, Duff McKagan left his native Seattle - partly to pursue music, but mainly to get away from a host of heroin overdoses then-decimating his closest group of friends in the local punk scene. In LA only a few weeks and still living in his car, he answered a want ad for a bass player placed by someone who identified himself only as "Slash." Soon after, the most dangerous band in the world was born. Guns N' Roses went on to sell more than 100 million albums worldwide.

Pioneers of Britain's nascent Rock and Metal scene back in the late 1970s, Iron Maiden smashed its way to the top, thanks in no small part to the high-octane performances, operatic singing style, and stage presence of its second, but twice-longest-serving, lead singer, Bruce Dickinson. As Iron Maiden's front man - first from 1981 to 1993, and then from 1999 to the present - Dickinson has been, and remains, a man of legend.

James Hetfield, with whom many years ago Mustaine founded a band known as Metallica, once observed, with some incredulity, that Mustaine must have been born with a horseshoe up his ass. That's how lucky he's been, how fortunate he is to be pulling breath after so many close calls. And Hetfield is right. Mustaine has been lucky. He has been blessed. But here's the thing about having a horseshoe lodged in your rectum: It also hurts like hell. And you never forget it's there.

Face the Music is the shocking, funny, smart, inspirational story of one of rock’s most enduring icons and the group he helped create. Stanley mixes compelling personal revelations and gripping, gritty war stories that will surprise even the most steadfast member of the KISS Army. He takes us back to his childhood in the 1950s and 60s, a time made more painful thanks to a physical deformity. Born with a condition called microtia, he grew up partially deaf, with only one ear. But this instilled in him an inner drive to succeed in the most unlikely of pursuits: music.

Story
The always-outspoken hard rock vocalist Corey Taylor begins America 51 with a reflection on what his itinerant youth and frequent worldwide travels with his multiplatinum bands Slipknot and Stone Sour have taught him about what it means to be an American in an increasingly unstable world. He examines the way America sees itself, specifically with regard to the propaganda surrounding America's origins (like a heavy-metal Howard Zinn) while also celebrating the quirks and behavior that make a true-blue American.

"I was 22 years old, a hard-on with a pulse: wretched vice-ridden, too much to burn and not enough minutes in a hour to do so. 1995 was a full 365-day year of drinking, fucking, lying, raging and exploration for me - not a dull one in the bunch. It was a time of self-shit: self-importance, self-absorption, self-indulgence and selfishness. I was the only person in the known galaxy and I wanted what the fuck I wanted sooner rather than later." The action begins in Iowa, where Corey Taylor committs each of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Fame can be addictive. From his early days videotaping crazy skateboard stunts to starring in the blockbuster Jackass franchise, there was little that Stephen “Steve-O” Glover wouldn’t do for attention. Whether it was stapling his nutsack to his leg, diving into a pool full of elephant crap, or routinely risking death invading the private lives of sharks, lions, tigers, and bears, almost nothing was out of bounds. And as the stunts got crazier, his life kept pace.

Jimmy Barnes has lived many lives - from Glaswegian migrant kid to iconic front man, from solo superstar to proud father of his own musical clan. In this hugely anticipated sequel to his critically acclaimed best seller, Working Class Boy, Jimmy picks up the story of his life as he leaves Adelaide in the back of an old truck with a then unknown band called Cold Chisel. Publisher's Summary
18 and Life on Skid Row tells the story of a boy who spent his childhood moving from Freeport, Bahamas, to California and finally to Canada and who, at the age of eight, discovered the gift that would change his life.
Throughout his career Sebastian Bach has sold over 20 million records both as the lead singer of Skid Row and as a solo artist. He is particularly known for the hit singles "I Remember You", "Youth Gone Wild", and "18 & Life" and the albums Skid Row and Slave to the Grind, which became the first ever hard rock album to debut at number one on the Billboard Top 200 and landed him on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Bach then went on to become the first rock star to grace the Broadway stage, with starring roles in Jekyll & Hyde, Jesus Christ Superstar, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He also appeared for seven seasons on the hit television show Gilmore Girls.
In his memoir Bach recounts lurid tales of excess and debauchery as he toured the world with Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe, Soundgarden, Pantera, Nine Inch Nails, and Guns N' Roses. 18 and Life on Skid Row is the story of hitting it big at a young age and of a band that broke up in its prime. It is the story of a man who achieved his wildest dreams, only to lose his family and then his home. It is a story of perseverance; of wine, women, and song; and of a man who has made his life on the road and always will. 18 and Life on Skid Row is not your ordinary rock memoir, because Sebastian Bach is not your ordinary rock star.

Loved How Sebastian Told His Story
What did you love best about 18 and Life on Skid Row?
How Sebastian tells his story. I've listened to a lot of bios and this one is one of a kind. You hear everything when he is telling you his story. He laughs, makes comments and sound effects.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Of course Sebastian
Which scene was your favorite?
The start and middle. I grew up listening to Skid Row and all of the bands that he was talking about. He tells the stories, the real stories.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I just wanted everyone else to hear him. Hear how he tells his story. I'm so happy I didn't read it and I listened to it.
Any additional comments?
This is a truly one of a kind book. I would recommend it to everyone. It's hard to describe the stories and storytelling but if you listen to this book you won't regret it!

this book immediately grabs your attention , the way Sebastian narrates the book kept a smile on my face the entirety of the listen as he seems so happy recounting His Glory Days and even the days he enjoys now. there are many great stories here, some that will make you laugh out loud and some that will make you misty-eyed. Amazing Stories include encounters with Metallica, Pantera, Guns N Roses, Motley Crue and many others. he has indeed had an amazing career. True to Form - Larger than Life and Totally Entertaining
As a teen in the 80s that loved Skid Row, Motley, GnR, etc., this book was a nostalgic journey through a time in rock that will never be repeated. If you loved "Oh Say Can You Scream," you'll get that same kinetic Bach energy in the audio book. A lot of stories I never heard before. SB owns prior behavior in a manner that is probably 40% growth, 60% self serving, but 100% true to form. Consummate rock star, larger than life, unabashed. He admits to outrageous behavior that should make you condemn him, but he has always carried that angelic look and true fan persona that makes you want to forgive him anything. And, you can appreciate his work ethic; he's a grinder and/or a hustler, with more lives than a cat, and an apparent ability to will things into existence. Love that the book is in many ways a plea to reunite the original Skid Row lineup. Would love to see a reunion of what in my opinion was a greatly underrated hard rock band of musicians. Overall, if you're a fan of Bach, Skid Row, or 80s/90s rock, this book should be on your list. Recommend.

Great performance
Overall this a great audio book for anyone who witnessed these times and loves the music. It's a great performance by Mr Bach (nobody else could do this justice) but there are a few contradictions throughout that give the indication that perhaps not everything here is as it happened. Sometimes the tales we all want to hear are glossed over and at other times tales not that interesting are given great detail. But, still well worth a listen and interesting in many parts.

Unmissable for 80's rock fans
I am a big Skid Row fan and was really curious about the story behind the break up. I was hooked from the beginning, as Sebastian narrates the story with passion and closeness. I listened to it mainly while driving to work and I would stay in the car for a few extra minutes not to miss any part of the story. While I still have some doubts on how exactly all ended with the band, it is a big piece of 80's rock music history, where Motley Crue, Guns N' Roses, Bon Jovi... make guest appearances.
After listening to the whole book, I have no doubt Sebastian is a nice guy (with a big mouth!): loved the story with the two black cameramen and his opinions on Kanye West.

Incredible listen
Didn't know anything about Sebastian Bach or Skid Row but recently started listening to their music and found this book to be really engrossing. Sebastian narrates his book really well and is sincere and has genuinely won him another fan. I recommend this to all rock music and biography listeners.

Sometimes painful but still funny
Not sure this is 100% the “truth” but it’s an interesting listen.
Bach is entertaining in his telling of the tale.
