第一章 朝の光――発端――
香港、マカオなど東南アジアを放浪し、旅の出発点と決めたデリーに辿り着いた。しかし、〈私〉は旅行案内所で旅の目的を説明できず、半年近くを無為に過ごしてしまったことに気がつく。いったいなぜ〈私〉は旅に出たのか。これはもうぐずぐずしていられない――。
第二章 黄金宮殿――香港――
本来は安い航空券を手に入れ、東京からデリーへと飛ぼうと思ったのだ。しかし、ひょんなことから通過点としか見ていなかった香港に漂着すると、〈私〉はその街の熱気に圧倒され、刺激に酔い痴れてしまう。この街にはどこへ言っても誰かがいて、何かがあった。毎日が祭りなのだ。
第三章 賽の踊り――マカオ――
香港の宿に荷物をおき、二時間半の連絡船で辿り着いたマカオ。そこで〈私〉は大小というサイコロ博奕に宿命的に出会ってしまう。気がつけば一日没頭し、宿に戻って目を閉じても、暗い筒の中で３つの賽が跳ねている。〈私〉はかりそめの戦場で危険が放射する光を浴びることを選ぶのだった。
