夏目家で飼われていた「吾輩は猫である」の猫を描いた作品。猫は漱石の転居のたびに鈴木三重吉によって運ばれたそうです。1908年9月13日に死んだ猫は漱石の手によって死亡通知も出されました。

明治の正月の様子がうかがえるような小品です。俳人の高浜虚子が登場し、彼の人となりも描かれています。永日小品の中では明るく、元旦のにぎやかさが伝わってきます。

漱石のロンドン留学時代の心境を描いた作品。孤独や環境の不適応など苦しい時代を回想しています

漱石の家の中で起きた出来事を多少のユーモアを交えて描き出している小品。聴いていると当時人物の会話と表情が浮かんできます

実話に基づいていると思われる内容です。二晩続けて「泥棒」の被害に遭いますが、家の者がそれぞれの泥棒に対する気持ちが描かれていて、共感できる身近な作品になっています。

芥川自死後に見つかった、51の断章から成る自伝的作品。親友の久米正雄に託された本作には「人生は一行のボオドレエルにも若かない」という一節が収められています。「先輩」として谷崎潤一郎、「先生」として夏目漱石、発狂した友人として宇野浩二が登場します。

ロンドン留学時代を描いた作品。街の様子や人々の様子が描かれていますが、雑踏の中での漱石の孤独感が伝わってくる作品です。

「永日小品」の中では最初に出てくるロンドン留学にまつわる話です。最初の下宿の様子が漱石の目線で描かれています

「吾輩は猫である」や「三四郎」に、更には高浜虚子に宛てた手紙にも名前が出てくるレオナルド・ダビンチです。漱石はロンドン留学時代にモナリザの複製画を見たようであるが、その時の印象が作品に結びついているのでしょう。

夜の火事の様子が緊迫感のある筆で色鮮やかに描かれています。ポンプ車の描写など臨場感あふれる作品です。しかし最後は、、、琴の音が。

リズム感がある文章で人間の描写が色濃く、いかにも漱石らしい作品でホッとさせられます。くすっと笑えるユーモアも含まれており、安心して聴ける作品です。

夏目家様子が伝わって来て思わずにこにこしてしまう作品です。仕事をしている漱石の気を引こうとして、あれやこれやの手を使う子供達。漱石の暖かい眼差しが伝わってきます。

漱石の「お金」に対する視点が描かれていて興味深い作品です。「空谷子」なる人物を登場させて、金=通貨論を展開します。しかし最後にはきちんとオチを付けておくのはユーモア好きの漱石らしいところです。

これもロンドン時代を回想した作品です。「暖かい夢」よりも更に孤独感が伝わってくる作品です。

10分という短い作品ですが、起承転結がはっきりしていて聴きごたえのある作品です。内容はほぼ実話と言われ、モデルはのちに八戸市営バスを設立した市川文丸と言われています。

永日小品の中ではちょっと異色の作品です。この話の冒頭に「こんな夢を見た」と加えればたちまち「夢十夜」になりそうです。永日小品のなかでもこの話が一番好き、という人も多いようです。

霧の都・ロンドンと言われるが、その霧の深さから物語は始まる。霧の中に身を置いた時の孤独感が当時の心境と共に伝わってきます。

語り口調で始まるこの作品はテンポよく進んでいきます。当時の日本の商取引ではこんな形もあったのだと、興味深く聴くことができるでしょう。支那人の商売にはなるほどと納得させられます。

永日小品の中では一番長い作品です。漱石がロンドン留学中に個人教授を務め、シェイクスピアの研究家であるウィリアム・クレイグ氏の事を書いている。クレイグ氏の風貌や人となりがうかがえる小品です。

漱石の少年時代の話です。自分の自己顕示欲、強きに諂い弱きを挫いた自分の小さな小さな心の傷を描いています。人間は誰でもこんな一面があるのだなと妙に納得する人も多いのではないでしょうか。

日本では文部省が「漱石、狂せり」の電文に騒いでいたころ、漱石はスコットランドのピトロクリ（＝ピトロッホリー Pitlochry）に滞在しました。のどかで、自然豊かな環境の中で漱石がイライラから解放されのんびりしていたことが作品の中からうかがえます。

主人公が下宿先で感じたことを淡々と描いています。ふとした拍子に五年前に死んだ母を思い出し、菊の花を活けていると聞こえてきたのは・・・。秋の日の一コマです。
