Born in Tokyo in 1979 and raised in New York, Sugiyama started his first business at the age of 19. He holds a B.A. in Policy Management from Keio University and an MBA from the Keio University Graduate School of Business Administration.
In 2013, he was handpicked by Nobuyuki Idei, Founder of Quantum Leaps Corporation and former Chairman & CEO of Sony, to serve as President and COO of Quantum Leaps. There, he led numerous business production projects connecting major corporations with startups, gaining extensive experience in tough negotiations and managing multicultural teams.
Since 2007, as Editor-in-Chief of the interview series My Philosophy, he has interviewed pioneers, leaders, and executives across diverse industries.
As President & CEO of ILI Co., Ltd., Sugiyama champions the corporate slogan “Do Today for a Better Tomorrow,” working as a global business producer to unlock the latent potential of companies and projects that are not fully realizing their market value, and enhancing that value. His goal is to build businesses together and share the joy and profits generated in the process.
