Soquel Baumgardner (pronounced SOH-kel) is a writer of chick lit, urban fantasy, alternative historical fiction, and fairy tales. She uses her degree in psychology to create complex characters. Her first job, working the night shift at a nuclear power plant, gave her a taste for the strange and unusual. Her last job, teaching creative writing to students in grades six through twelve at a private school, also brought her face-to-face with the strange and unusual. She has lived in fifty-one different homes, including next door to the famous Oak Alley Plantation and in a Victorian house in the middle of a California broccoli field said to be haunted by a ghost in a spacesuit. Again, strange and unusual. Soquel loves research almost as much as dark chocolate, Dr Pepper cupcakes, and writing. She likes going down rabbit holes and returning with new story ideas, quirky facts, and authentic details that bring realism and originality to her projects and instill a sense of her credibility in her readers. She has written twenty-two novels, two screenplays, and some very bad poetry. She makes her home in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she lives with her trophy husband, insanely gifted daughter, and passel of cats.
