At the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), Shelley teaches yoga, qigong, and meditation classes as well as leading wellness-in-workplace events. She developed and led a yearlong campus-wide meditation program, which equipped students, staff, faculty, and patients with mindfulness and stress management tools to improve their overall well-being. Shelley’s earlier role as a Wellbeing Specialist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City allowed her to develop therapeutic yoga programs for hospital settings, teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction courses, and provide compassionate, individualized care. Her contributions also extended to research on integrative medicine, emphasizing a holistic approach to health. A former professional dancer in New York City, Shelley found her calling in leveraging artistic movement to inspire connection and healing. Shelley was the director of a pre-professional high school dance company, Dance in Education at SUNY Purchase where she nurtured the artistic growth of the young dancers by coaching them in professional choreography and organizing performances in underserved communities. She was an educational teaching artist for the New York City Ballet integrating arts into public school curricula, guiding students in choreographing their classroom lessons, showcasing their work in performance and bringing students to experience NYC Ballet scintillating performances at Lincoln Center. At Weill Cornell Psychiatric Hospital, she taught dance and mindfulness to students K-12 attending school within the hospital. Working closely with their psychiatrists, she developed classes to fulfill artistic expression, physical education, and emotional well-being. One of her greatest joys was choreographing the Stepping Up graduation ceremony for all grades, a highlight that fostered a profound sense of accomplishment within the community. At the New Jewish Senior Living Center, she received a grant to provide mindful movement classes for Alzheimer’s patients. These classes significantly reduced anxiety caused by sundowning and fostered a stronger sense of collective awareness and community support among participants, their families, staff, and caregivers. Shelley's greatest joy is sharing the inner arts with others, providing a meaningful contribution to health and happiness.
