Paul Sunseri, Psy.D. is a child and family clinical psychologist whose work focuses on reversing the child and adolescent mental health epidemic. In addition his clinical expertise, Dr. Sunseri is also a researcher, a TEDx speaker, and the developer Intensive Family-Focused Therapy, an innovative and effective treatment approach for highly suicidal, depressed, anxious, or oppositional children and adolescents. Dr. Sunseri’s research examines the relationship between family dynamics and children's mental health which shows that children with serious mental illness challenges benefit the most when the focus of treatment is on the family, not just the individual child. Dr. Sunseri’s first book, "Family-Focused Treatment for Child and Adolescent Mental Health: A New Paradigm", is published by Routledge, one of the leading publishers of academic books in the field of psychology. The book is both a treatment manual for clinicians, as well as a resource and guide for parents who child or adolescent is struggling with a mental health condition. Additionally, Dr. Sunseri includes an 18-point plan that can be implemented by parents, therapists, and the community to reverse the childhood mental health crisis. His second book, "Gentle Parenting Reimagined: How to Make It Work with Oppositional and Defiant Kids is a self-help book for parents that shows them how to best love and support a more difficult-to-parent, strong-willed, or oppositional child or teen. Dr. Sunseri, a father of four daughters, lives and practices in Northern California.
